And that's why I keep saying what an author says (especially years after the fact) and what they actually write might not be the same thing.
Feel free to interpret Goku staying dead that way, but I won't, because nothing in the actual work supports it. And if that is how Toriyama wanted it to be interpreted he did a shit job making it come across that way.

And like, I don't even necessarily have a problem believing that Goku would like to stay dead to fight people in Other World. I just don't buy that he wouldn't just say that, and instead would make up some excuse that we're supposed to think doesn't make sense, but all the other characters are apparently too stupid to pick holes in, and the entire thing is played straight.
That's what I have trouble believing, and no attention is ever drawn to make us think that's what was happening, therefor I think we're supposed to think that Goku's real reasons were what he said they were.

I mean, the idea that Goku is always selfish is ridiculous, because, one of my favorite Goku moments is when he finds Turtle and immediately wants to help him, just because Turtle needs help.
And, best part, Goku also has to be convinced that Turtles don't taste good.
Goku doesn't go around looking for wrongs to right. That's why I ultimately like the ending of Super and Freeza coming back. I honestly believe that if Freeza just decides to leave Earth alone, or at least so long as he and Goku don't cross paths and Goku never directly learns about Freeza's continued evildoing, or meets any of his victims, Freeza and Goku can just coexist in Universe 7 and never meet again. Goku might not even think about Freeza unless it's brought up to him.
But if someone in front of him needs help, and he can understand it and provide that help, Goku will step up to it. That's the character Goku is to me.

That should be the most consistent part of his character.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Gohan is the one more likely to be a hero of justice, to go out of his way looking for people to help, and.
In some sense, fighting might not be the way to help people he's best at.
There's like five years between Majunior and Raditz, a year between Raditz and tge Saiyans, then a year between Freeza and Freeza (plus 8 months because of two summons of Porunga maybe?) then three years between Freeza and Gero, then fucking 7 years between Cell and Buu. Then about, 4 between Buu and Beerus, then a year between Beerus and Freeza.
Yeah, maybe Gohan could have become even stronger and protected the world from everything if he kept training all the time constantly, or he could be like Tien who does nothing but train and seems to only accomplish making his shoulders bigger.
Realistically, odds are he might be better using the time better doing sciencey things. In terms of people helped to time spent.
...Especially with his dad the training addict around. I will be honest that the 7 years after the Cell Games are slightly harder to justify in my head. When he specifically agreed and promised about it and everything.
Also, I read the S Cells interview
and what the fuck.
My inner biologist is crying.
EDIT: Also, does anyone think/hope that the Broly movie will show lil' Kakarot on Earth, in his Saiyan armor, and attacking Gohan
◊ with the intent to kill? Showing off what a "wild" child he was?
Also, I don't know much about Superman, did he ever try to fucking murder the Kents when he was found?
Did the Bardock special have that? No, it didn't
Kakarot was just a sweet giggly little babbu
Babies are helpless.
Baby Kakarot is a lot more innocent and nice seeming in the fucking Bardock special than he ever seems in Jaco and therefore Minus.
In Jaco, Kakarot attacked Gohan, Gohan kicked his ass, and then decided to take him in and feed him anyway.
I dunno when the brain damage happens. Not right then I think. Maybe it took a few weeks or something.
Either way.

Well, considering Goku was near death and barely conscious at this time, that'd be exceptionally fucked.
It's a lot healthier for their relationship to assume they had a baby during the seven-day period before the Cell Games.
But he IS a hero of justice.

Why do people want Chi Chi and Kakarotto to have sex?
