Rinsankajugin, you'd know this. Where can I find footage of the Tournament of Power character's moves in Heroes gameplay? I'm working on a Fighterz moveset for Katopesla, and I'm curious if he has anything from there that I could use. Currently, all I've got is his three Modes and The Final Mission.
I think the anime is pretty clearly the "real" super and the manga is the What If?.
Namely "What if Super wasn't bad".
I mean, I still ended up hating Super less than GT.
...Honestly, at this stage I think the only thing GT had over Super was Videl was Great Saiyaman 2 one time.
Aside from that they're horrifyingly similar, except Super has Beerus.
...I dunno, I think GT had overall better animation than some of Super's worst, but the colour palette was. I dunno, washed out?
GT is just too 90s for me.
The way I would describe it is that GT succeeded at what it was trying to do artistically fairly consistently, I just hate what it was trying to do.
Super has been an abject failure fairly frequently, but the intended artstyle and colours are much more my thing.
It's not that GT wasn't similar to Z, it's that it was similar to the flaws of Z.
Like. I dunno, almost uncanny valley? Only that's about realism, and realistic humans specifically.
Is there like an uncanny valley for artstyles? Because to me GT was the valley, and Z and the good bits of Super are the hills on the sides.
There's something about GT's color palate or animation style that just rubs me the wrong way. I'm not even sure what it is, but I just hate its aesthetic. I do know why I hate Super Saiyan 4, and that's because it's super goddamn edgy in a franchise that doesn't work well with edge.
Zamasu was edgy and pretentious and people not taking him seriously was the source of many jokes, even he didn't take himself seriously at times. Super Saiyan 4 is all red with red eyeshadow and eyeliner and black hair and a deep gravelly voice and goddamn red werewolf fur covering it and yet it was supposed to be seen as the coolest thing ever.
My issues with Super are the same I have with One Piece’s anime.
The characters look like their covered in a layer of bright plastic.
I rather miss the washed aesthetic Z had, had a more gritty feel.
I think we’re supposed to see Zamasu as serious.
At the very least 4 is cooler than just having a shade of teal.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I think Super Saiyan 4 is overdesigned.
I dont like the magic pants either.
Or, like. The obligatory shirtlessness.
Either be naked and dickless like an Oozaru, or keep your clothes on in my book.
...I mean. Id personally prefer naked and dick swinging, but I know it'd never happen.
Dont tease me with pants out of nowhere. Especially ugly pants.
Zamasu is meant to be serious in the physical threat he poses, but absolutely no-one listens to his ranting about the value of mortals and gods. When they do respond, it's to tell him to shut up already. The only person who takes Zamasu's ranting seriously is Gowasu, who is only sad at how far his apprentice has fallen into evil and madness.
I think Zamasu was meant to be a parody/deconstruction of his type of villain, the "preachy racist religious fanatic with a god complex". He fits all the stereotypes, but he's explicitly young and corrupted by evil ideas, no-one listens to him, he has no followers, and his only friend is himself.

I like both SS 4/Ultimate saiyan and the god forms, I like both their designs for different reasons
Plus, I like the idea of branching pathways for saiyan transformations
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"Seriously though, where does an Oozaru's dick actually go?
Does it stay the same size?
Near as I can tell, even in the manga, Oozaru Kid Gohan, Oozaru Kid Goku and Oozaru Adult Vegeta are all the exact same height and dimensions. And identical generally.
Which, side-note, is disappointing. In games that show alternate forms, Oozaru Nappa should have a bald spot on his head, and Raditz should have hair going down his back.
They all even have the fucking Widow's peak, so Vegeta doesnt even have that. Why doesn't Goku have the bangs! Or the spikes or whatever!
Like, in fairness, Saiyan Saga Vegeta's wearing his battle armor with the stretchy spandex. But there's no bulge in that region when he transforms, so I'm assuming it didn't grow for him either.
Monkeys and apes and other primates specifically dont have a genital sheath to hide the phallus internally. All external all the time.
...Darkest Saiga-Shenron, I summon thee, pretty please, grant my wish and give me the true manga Daizenshu whatever lore on monkey junk.
EDIT: So, I looked up Great Ape Broly, and he's still wearing his pants, and they're still baggy.
Like. What did OG Movie 8 Paragus make those pants out of.
Is. Is the implication that Broly's the only Great Ape whose dick gets bigger?
Because that just sounds like the worst character shilling and Mary Sue BS. Even by Broly standards. "Ooh, look at me, I'm Broly and I'm the strongest oh and I've got the biggest dick". Fucking piece of shit.
Oh, and also his hair stays the same as his LSS form, with the way it flairs to the sides instead of Vegeta's boring-ass widow's peak.
Fucking Broly.
I thought his pants looked dumb before.
Why Dragon Ball. Why do you have to prove me wrong when I think you can't be worse.

I feel bad for timeline 3 Bulma.
EDIT: Also, for me the question is what exactly happened to all the mortals in the afterlife?
Like, presumably Zeno erased them, but. Was Zamasu after them too? Why not?
Was Beerus still in that afterlife? Because in a weird way it sorta sucks if Beerus gets to kick back in Heaven while Whis gets to sleep forever until Whis erases him.
If Beerus is dead and in Heaven, even if he's not allowed to go to the Mortal Realm (for more than 24 hours, and only with Baba's help?) would he still be able to hurt Mortals that teleported into Otherworld?
I want to picture Zamasu or Black using Kai Kai or Instant Transmission-ing into Otherworld and just finding Beerus there to kick their asses back.

So in regards to which is better the anime or the manga...
I don't even know anymore to be honest. There are things I like more about the anime (I think Zen-O destroying Trunks universe was slightly more justified there considering the Eldritch Abomination he'd become, but the manga arguably does a better job of showing how casually he'd destroy an entire universe by doing so when he really only needed to killing the Zamasu army), and there are things I think the manga has done better as well.
I'm sick of comparing them or putting one over the other. What they should be is more congruent with each other. I'm not sure who's the blame, but instead of Toei and Toriyama / Toyotarou really working together to ensure the two versions compliment each other instead of competing and contradicting each other.
The manga should have come first, given some time to get ahead and tell it's story, while the anime does the seasonal approach (which has proven to be a better way to adapt things). This way, the latter has blueprints that they can follow, but can also fill in the gaps with character building filler and Slice of Life stuff that isn't really Toriyama's thing. You know, do some work with those characters that he's just not interested in, but insists on still having there as fodder to get beaten or fill out crowd shots anyway.
That's how you do Super.
One Strip! One Strip!I think the reason I still dislike GT more despite it and Super having many of the same flaws is because, imo, GT has those flaws in greater quality. The big sticking point for me personally is, especially, Character Exaggeration, and while Super definitely does it too to an extent, GT is absolutely lousy with it, and that makes it more difficult to watch. I at least find that Super's character moments work, even though it's overall plots are monotonous, repetitive, uninspired and full of wasted potential.
Also, the dub of GT is full of continuity issues. Not retcons, just straight up poorly researched idiocy. Like everything to do with Normal! 17 in the Super 17 arc.

Oh god, this is gold:
@ Pushover: It's not much, but here's some gameplay:
In Heroes, is attack is The Final Mission, his passive ability lets him refill meter by +1 if in play but slows down the enemy's speed as a support, and he can summon Mosco to attack.

I mean, it is weird that Dragon Ball Minus says that Planet Vegeta wouldn't actually be destroyed until another month.
Like, I get that it only had 16 pages, but.
Was Toriyama's intent to imply that something sorta but not quite like the Bardock Special would still happen?
Because I legit cannot tell if theyre going to retcon Bardock facing Freeza or not.
Would Toriyama actually contradict an actual panel of the actual manga like that?
I'm taking bets here.
...Maybe more importantly, will the Broly Movie contradict the original Dragon Ball Minus's connection to Jaco the Galactic Patrolman by taking out the "watch out for the Galactic Patrol" punchline?

Odd that Heroes Katopesla has The Final Mission, except it's completely different. I guess maybe that could work for a ki blast. Ganos getting buzzsaws is neat.
Also, my god that goofy trailer parody is well-animated!
Was Toriyama's intent to imply that something sorta but not quite like the Bardock Special would still happen?
That's been my assumption.

Huh honestly I like some of those story beats more than what we got in the anime (which isn't saying much really), at least concept-wise.
Sure the manga's execution is still shite but fuck the concepts do have some potential.
