[up][up] They could easily have a Majin Buu counterpart.

Although you are right. With the earth destroyed there won't an equivalent to the Androids.

Unless Magetta is supposed to be that

Well the Androids are just organic beings enhanced by advanced technology that enables them to possess limitless energy.

So basically Universe....... whatever it’s number was if only not so obviously robotic or mechanical in appearance.

Universe 3 was the one full of tin cans

And that description only fits the twins. Most of the androids are varied, from regular tin cans like 16, 19 and the movie ones; to a Brain in a Jar cyborg like Gero and the biogenetical ones like Cell or Android 21.

Plus models 1-7 and 9-15 (If you ignore the movie ones). Apparently, Android 9 is commander Red revived as a bot

Well they mostly look relatively human.

16 looks completely normal, as well as Gero with his hat on, as well as 13 & that big pony-tailed one.

The ones who look really weird are 19 & the small purple one.

...... Oh right there's more beyond the ones in the Z Era.

"Majin" just means magical person in Japanese (often used to translate the English word genie, hence why Viz calls the pink guy "Djinn Boo" and why his design and powers are so genie esque). Other people have been called Majins in the series (like Lucifer), and Gohan seems to have preconceptions of what a Majin should look like (since he says he thought a Majin would be bigger when he sees Buu pop out).

Speaking solely in the context of the original story, there's no reason to think Buu is anything other than a Single-Specimen Species. Bibidi created him by accident.

Pretty sure Nigrisshi, The Preecho, Maji=Kayo and Aniraza are Bio-Androids. The rest of them are robots, and I think Paparoni and maybe Katopesla are cyborgs.

So Popo is totally a Majin then.

Also, they later retconned that Bibidi didn't create Buu. He existed since time immemorial and Bibidi was one of the first that could more or less wake him up from his slumber.

Also also, in the DB Online lore, Fat Buu eventually creates a race of Majin.

I agree that Maji-Kayo is a Bio-Android, but I think he could be made of liquid metal, given how many people I saw making comparisons between him and the T-1000.

I liked Maji-Kayo, he could've gotten more screentime, but I felt he was utilized well. His role in the team seemed to be scouting out and testing the limits of the notable members of the other teams to notify his teammates of potential threats.

You know, Cell attaining his perfect form has to be the luckiest series of event for him.

Every single people that could have stopped him was stupid, each one of them on a different level of stupid. It's a miracle Gohan managed to stop messing around and kill him...after fucking up himself.

[up] Well Future Trunks could have killed Cell earlier but he didn't to save his dad's pride I believe.

Also I found this video by Totally Not Mark critiquing how Toyotaro draws the manga.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5uscyx0OpU

I think he makes some interesting points. The basis of his critiques is that Toyotaro has a problem with pacing & composition, that he essentially draws too much making his pages feel bloated and lack focus. He even brings up an interview where Toriyama offered advice to Toyotaro about his fight scenes where he recommended that he should fret less & cut some corners in his paneling, meaning less is more basically.

Any thoughts anyone?

Everyone was stupid in the Android arc, including Cell himself:

1. Krillin for not contacting the others after finding Dr. Gero and getting beat up by him. Also for destroying the shut-down remote just for some cyber sex with 18 lol.

2. Piccolo for choosing to fight A17 instead of escaping, foolishly alerting Cell of the Androids' location.

3. Vegeta for letting Cell absorb A18.

4. Trunks for not being proactive and just killing 18 when she was right in front of him instead of merely telling her to run away.

5. A18 for not just running away when she had the chance (Cell couldn't sense her).

6. Tien for not even considering using his Tri-Beam on 1st form Cell.

7. Goku for not choosing to go inside the Time Chamber a 2nd time (he and Gohan could have unlocked SSJ 2 much sooner and easily got rid of Cell). Giving Cell a senzu bean and not telling anyone about his plans with Gohan was also dumb.

8. Gohan for not killing Cell right away as soon as he went SSJ 2.

9. Cell for deliberately trying to bring out Gohan's hidden power instead of just killing him off. Cell choosing not to train in the 10 period before the tournament was also dumb.

10. And the whole team is dumb for choosing not to kill Dr.Gero before he creates the Androids.

To be fair, Piccolo was waaaay stronger than Cell not that long ago. Which would have held true for 17 as well.

There's some weird definition about being "stupid"

Kriller getting beaten by Gero has nothing to do with anything since he did point everyone to Gero's lab afterward.

Piccoro couldn't really "choose" to escape, he's actually lucky that they didn't decide to just team up on him.

Trunks decided that Killing Cell was a priority, that's a heat of the moment thing.

Kakarrot not telling anyone of his plan is irrelevant, since Gohand knew pretty much what the idea was. You're also assuming that going back in the chamber Wasn't pointless like he already said it was.

Gohand became arrogant and sadistic due to the transformation, oh no...he totally had control over his emotions and could make rational judgements.

Cell is part Saiya-jin, nothing about what you said makes sense. Why would he assume he needs to train, he just wanted to fight.

That last thing is accurate though.

[up][up][up]Trunks was going to kill Cell regardless, he just didn't go Grade 3 because he thought his father couldn't and that he was stronger.

I gotta wonder, why Ten went to the battle before 17 got absorbed if he was just gonna float there...? I guess that scene makes more sense in DBZA.

1. If Krillin told the others he had found Gero when he did, they could have killed him before he reaches the lab, ending the arc right there.

2. When did Goku say going in the Room a 2nd time was pointless? If he did, then that line eventually gets disproven later in the series anyway as characters still get massive power boost from training inside it after the Cell Games.

3. Tien and Krillin were with Piccolo when the Androids found them. Either of them could have used Solar Flare on the Androids to make a run for it (this was how Krillin was able to escape from 1st form Cell a few episodes prior and well as Dodoria in the Namek arc). Piccolo's fight with A17 wasn't really inevitable.

4. The whole "SSJ makes you irrational" thing has little evidence supporting it, so that excuse doesn't work with Gohan.

5. How is Cell being part-Saiyan an excuse? The Saiyans train more than nearly all other characters, so Cell should have had the desire too.

6. Trunks' aim was to stop all of the Androids by any means, so it makes no sense for him not to kill A18 on sight when he could have.

Okay, since we're doing this:

1. Krillin for not contacting the others after finding Dr. Gero and getting beat up by him. Also for destroying the shut-down remote just for some cyber sex with 18 lol.

The first part is just flat out wrong since Krillin is the on to lead them to Gero's lab afterward. Yeah, the remote thing is stupid, and really forced.

2. Piccolo for choosing to fight A17 instead of escaping, foolishly alerting Cell of the Androids' location.

I'm not even sure what you mean by "choosing to escape" since the androids came to them, and taking them out was still the plan, Cell or no Cell, and doing so cripples Cell's plans to begin with.

3. Vegeta for letting Cell absorb A18.

Yep, stupid.

4. Trunks for not being proactive and just killing 18 when she was right in front of him instead of merely telling her to run away.

Wrong usage of the word "proactive". Trunks was clearly being proactive by beating the shit out of Cell. As randomness said, that's just a heat of the moment thing, and she's clearly not the bigger threat at the moment. Though, I still get being annoyed by this one.

5. A18 for not just running away when she had the chance (Cell couldn't sense her).

Well for one thing, she did run away and there was this whole thing about Cell hunting her down that you seem to be forgetting. But before that point, yeah, not wanting to abandon 17, her brother, was totally "stupid".

6. Tien for not even considering using his Tri-Beam on 1st form Cell.

Because why would he? 1st form Cell was way out of Tien's league and the Tri-Beam wouldn't somehow magically let him kill him. Despite what so many people want to believe, Tien wasn't actually hurting Cell, he was just pushing him down (which is still probably too much, but whatever).

7. Goku for not choosing to go inside the Time Chamber a 2nd time (he and Gohan could have unlocked SSJ 2 much sooner and easily got rid of Cell). Giving Cell a senzu bean and not telling anyone about his plans with Gohan was also dumb.

You mean that thing Goku specifically says would be a waste of time and torture on their bodies at that point? Not telling anyone about his intentions for Gohan (except Gohan) is irrelevant. Senzu thing is stupid, yes.

8. Gohan for not killing Cell right away as soon as he went SSJ 2.

Gohan's sadism was on full display and very apparent. You claiming it wasn't doesn't make it untrue.

9. Cell for deliberately trying to bring out Gohan's hidden power instead of just killing him off. Cell choosing not to train in the 10 period before the tournament was also dumb.

Did you miss the entire reason Cell was having a tournament at all? He wanted to entertain himself with a challenge. Also the entire point of him becoming perfect was that he thought he was, well, perfect so why would he train? And that's ignoring you thinking him training for 10 days out in the woods would actually mean anything, for some reason.

10. And the whole team is dumb for choosing not to kill Dr.Gero before he creates the Androids.

And that's just acknowledged at the very beginning of the arc, the characters want to fight, so they choose to let it happen. Stupid? Yes, but it fits with the characters. Which actually goes for most of these stupid decisions - characters making bad decisions isn't inherently bad writing, which seems to be your point.

Though admittedly, some of these bad decisions are contrivances even taking into consideration the characters' personalities and flaws.

[up]x5 Kriller was ambushed, taken out, took a senzu, then hesitated at Gero's threat. Sooo what?

Going into the chamber...was disproven by...characters who never trained in there before. Sooo no, it wasn't.

You're assuming that they could just escape, which they can't because 16 could still track energy and most likely wouldn't be affected by Solar Flare.

Saiya-jins don't have the desire to train, they have the desire to fight. They don't fight to get stronger, just because that's what they do. Karrot "likes" training, Veggie trains specifically to keep up with him.

Trunks' goal at the moment was to stop Cell, while killing 18 was an option...she was technically a victim at that moment, Veggie would've intervened, and Cell was a bigger threat.
