Yeah, I considered that too, until I realized it was stupid and made no sense biologically.

You'd think that all the high level fighters would eat a ton for all the calories they burn

Do saiyans have immense appetites? I assumed Goku's appetite was due to him being a Shonen protagonist.

I seem to remember that, after the first Budokai, Goku and Krillin both ate a lot because they burned a lot of calories during.

The two of them ate up all of Roshi's prize money.

The difference with Goku is that he has a bunch of scenes like the Buu World Tournament where he preloads a lot of food before he does anything.

The first time we see him he's catching a fish bigger than he is, seemingly to eat it all at once. Because he doesnt have a refrigerator in his hut. And fish goes bad fast.

...Also, there's a gag of Yajirobe eating bunch of Senzu beans and getting fat right away, and I think Goku mentions being able to eat them and still be hungry afterwards even though they're supposed to keep you full for a week.

Yajirobe was a martial artist and fairly active, and he likes Senzu beans and living with Korin because they keep him full even though he's normally a Big Eater himself.

So the sense I get is that Saiyan metabolism is just freakish.

EDIT: Anyway, the first time we see Vegeta and Nappa they're eating bug people. And Earth insects have a lot of protein and calories.

It's admittedly weird, given Namek lasts six days at least without anyone seemingly getting hungry, and it taking about a month for everyone to get there.

But then again, Goku brings Senzu beans. And I think Vegeta eats those Namekians he killed?

Yikes, I actually forgot that the first time we see Vegeta he's got bits of person in his mouth.

Was there anything else for Vegeta to eat on Namek? I feel like he was probably definitely eating people again if only because of occam's razor

There were fish in Namek's... oceans? Rivers?... There were fish in Namek's waters. Plenty of those to eat.

@unnoun In the manga, at least, it was specifically only Goku who was eating a ton after the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai. Not sure about the anime, but it was one of the most notable instances of Goku being a Big Eater, in that he blew through Roshi's prize money almost on his own.

Do saiyans have immense appetites? I assumed Goku's appetite was due to him being a Shonen protagonist.

I think Goku invented that shonen protagonist trope.

Bulma had food in the cave hideout, so we see Gohan and Kuririn eating normal food.

I imagine Vegeta ate fish for the most part as there was only one village he slaughtered, I don't think that would be his only source of food.

Vegeta ate Freeza's henchmen. They tasted fruity.

And there it is, the grand finale. A very fitting send off for... Goddamn it Kaiser.

I need Takahata to voice a Disney villain.

Toppo is voiced by Ray Hurd and Helles/Jerez is voiced by Maryam Baig going by the dub's credits.

Hurd is a great fit for Toppo.

I can't find anything on Baig though, not even on this site.

I had forgotten how not being able to sense the Universe 9 guys was a thing, and how it didn't actually amount to anything.

Actually, was that for all of Universe 9 or was it just a Trio de Dangers thing?

I actually saw someone say on one of the ki-sensing pages here that it was because their universe was so fundamentally different from u 7. But I had always had the impression that it was just the Trio, and we know from the TOP that the ki of others could be sensed (mostly because of Jiren).

I'm gonna agree that it's just something about the Trio that's atypical from other fighters.

Shame they were part of the fodder universe.

Plus that unsensible ki had some potential.

Not really.

I don't think the heroes being unable to sense their ki meant much in a one on one fight.

I don't believe it was a thing with the manga version, though I might be forgetting since the manga version of U9 was even more fodderish than the anime version.

Plus, Toriyama played that card before and made it clear that, like many things, having more ki trumps everything.

Yeah I think that detail has been played out. We've had the Androids, possibly Babidi's men, Gods previously.

It seems like it was there to justify the blind Gohan fight. It's still funny that Gohan did better there than against Kuririn, who put him in a similar but less severe situation. That's such poor consistency. Speaking off, the Solar Flare x100 is another example of the non-ki sensing being played out.
