I find myself agreeing with Lani and Kaiser here. Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the most Dragon Ball-looking the anime has been in a very long time.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I've always wondered what Dr Gero's actual goal was for Cell once he became perfect, since the only source we have is Cell's own biased opinion. It's never said that it's to kill Goku, considering when Cell is "born" he'd probably assume Goku is dead. And Goku was dead for twenty years in the Alternate Timeline Cell came from upon his "birth".
I think that at some point, Gero just went full Misanthrope. He was still planning to conquer the world after Goku was dead. He probably made Cell to facilitate that.
Plus, I'm pretty sure he hated everyone and everything but his dead son and wife, so I doubt Cell was wrong.
Gero's a DBZ villain. Asshole is his default state of being.
One Strip! One Strip!Dr Gero never planned for Cell to take that long. It was almost definitely intended as a way to kill Goku (or take over the world) but it was only after Gero had started working on it that it began taking too long and he gave it to the computer to complete.
Goku would definitely still be alive by the time Cell was completed if not for the heart virus or one of Gero's other creations killing him. It's a big assumption to think that Gero was sure he would have perfected one of his other creations by then, given the difficulty and number of prototypes he went through.
Gero threw a lot of spaghetti at the wall to see what stuck, it seems.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersA stopped clock kills Goku once a day, as they say
And then he came back to life anyway so was it reeeeeeeeeeeeeally a success?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI agree.
Just because something happened that undid the effort, doesn't mean that Cell killing Goku shouldn't count as Gero accomplishing his goal.
...So Tien stopping Semi Imperfect Cell still counts. Mwa ha ha!
<Drops a mic>
One Strip! One Strip!I want to see a five page essay justifying why.
..Or you could just ignore me. That's also a fair response.
But seriously, how is the Tien thing still his actions not mattering, but Goku coming back after Cell killed him still a victory for Gero? I mean, it's the exact same thing.
Someone wants to do something, does it, and then another character does something that undoes what the first character did. They are almost totally the exact same thing.
I'm actually legitimately curious about this.
One Strip! One Strip!Nothing undid Ten's efforts...
What he did didn't work to begin with. What Ten was trying to do was buy time for 18 to escape. She didn't. Effort Wasted.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Right. I had a response, but my computer decided to be stupid and make me wait 20 minutes to write one sentence.
It has successfully frustrated me into just saying you win, because I no longer care about the argument. Not when I’m gonna be forced to wait half an hour to say one word. I’m actually dictating this on my phone.
So I’ll end it here.
Tien sucks. So does my computer.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
You're right based on a technicality proven by the testament of internet discussions.
x5 Because nothing undid Ten's actions.
He tried to buy time and failed because 18 and 16 couldn't get away from Cell.
It's not that Vegeta and Kuririn undid Ten's actions - Kuririn only chose not to use the remote, and Vegeta stayed out of Cell's way/prevented Trunks from helping. Therefore, if Vegeta, Kuririn and Trunks hadn't shown up, Cell would have still absorbed 18 despite the delay.
So, if you go super literal about it, Ten failed.

Krillin and Vegeta...you could even argue Trunks if you're feeling vindictive.
But mainly Krillin and Vegeta.

One Strip! One Strip!Speaking of what is called the "Cell Saga"
I don't think anyone posted the Mistarefusion video. Its not wholly but it is partially about how Tien is a dumbass.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersSee, this made me want to argue the point again. Then I remembered that 18's refusal to abandon 16 slowed her down enough that when Cell started destroying islands to root her out, she couldn't escape.
So we could say that's the only reason she would get caught. If not for 16, Cell would have never found her due to her not having any energy to even sense.
...I guess my desire to argue with Saiga trumps all else. Thank you man.
It's a good thing he brought up more detail...that was necessary for you to make the comeback.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. That's why he's the pope.
Watched the video. Well, we all accept at this point that, barring Krillin, the other three human fighters are just fall guys. They are just really there to fill space in the end.
Some of the stuff Fusion brings up (especially about how Piccolo must feel about the direction his life is taking) is really interesting. You don't see it until he brings it up, but it makes sense.
While I'd normally say that Toriyama wasn't thinking that far or considering that (and it's very possible he wasn't) I don't always give him the credit he deserves, so it's very possible that Piccolo's reaction was more than just getting him to go to Kami's, and had a more organic root than I'd ever realized.
One Strip! One Strip! You know, Tenshinhan wondering why Piccolo freaked out and where he went never made sense, but it would actually make much more sense for Trunks to be asking those questions. Considering how, you know, Trunks doesn't know Piccolo's past or about Kami's Lookout, while Tenshinhan fought Piccolo and has trained on Kami's Lookout.

Unless we're using Minus, Goku was like every other Saiyan until his head damage. Piccolo genetically is still King Piccolo.
