I think it just affects them like that in general, doesn't matter if they're a supreme kai or not. Zamasu was still in training when he turned evil, yes?

Kid Veggie is apathetic AS. Also, acting...bess scene.

Another behind the scenes interview from "Dragon Ball Frontline" series, this time on Super: Broly's director Tatsuya Nagamine. Translated by Herms:

Broly and the new Freeza Force members
As Toriyama gives Broly more characterization, Nagamine focuses on making him look super strong with various techniques. There's about 300-400 sheets of storyboard for Broly’s actions.

Chelye is a young delinquent girl who acts on her emotions. She helps out Broly without thinking of the consequences, with terrible results. Lemo has served in Freeza’s army for decades. He wants to do something about Broly, but knows his own limits.

Lemo encountering Broly and Chelye’s actions start to influence him. Nagamine likes the balance between these characters, but saying any more would spoil the movie.

     Story and Power Developments
Goku is already pretty close to being a god, and Vegeta is desperately trying to catch up. This time Freeza shows particular growth. He wants to be on top, but is pondering how he can with Beerus and co. around. Is his ambition to defeat the Omni-King?!

In Resurrection “F”, Freeza was at a huge disadvantage fighting on his own, but Nagamine says everyone should look forward to seeing how Freeza will oppose Goku and Vegeta this time around.

Nagamine says they’re adapting Toriyama’s script pretty much as-is apart from the action scenes. But the original script would've made for twice the scheduled 90 minute run time, so everyone involved has worked to trim it down, though the run time has still been slightly extended

Reinventing Dragon Ball's Visual Image (and Tingly Backs)
It was a bit hard for Nagamine when he heard Broly would be in this film, since his mentor Shigeyasu Yamauchi directed the first Broly movie and he figured he couldn’t surpass his mentor. Still, he's focusing on Toriyama's new characterization for Broly and making him look strong

Nagamine felt the image of what a DB anime was like had gotten too fixed; he wants to refresh how Super Saiyan transformations/Kamehamehas/etc are depicted, using the latest animation methods.

With that in mind, Toriyama’s “tingly back” description for turning Super Saiyan inspired him to focus on the transformation's physical aspects (yes, really).

Production Details about the Tournament of Power
Nagamine was picked to direct the new film midway through serving as series director for the DBS TV series. He wanted to see the TV series through to the end, but Toei insisted on him doing the movie.

Still, Nagamine thinks (final DBS series director) Ryota Nakamura and his staff did a good job with the Universe Survival arc (and it helped that Toriyama put a lot of effort into this arc too). A typical episode has 3,500-4,000 frames, but DBS ep.131 had about double that..

The number of animation frames is directly linked to going overbudget and is therefore strictly controlled. Nagamine himself once got chewed out for using 4,000 frames on an episode Magical Do Re Mi, but since then Toei seems to have learned to splurge when necessary.

Interesting stuff. I thought those two newcomers would just be one-note Frieza henchmen, but it looks like they're more involved with Broly himself.

You are not alone.

Broly & various techniques?

Huh I wonder what these techniques & hundreds of storyboard sheets for his actions are.

The typical episode of anime having 4,000 animation frames as the standard maximum is a quite shocking revelation to me. There are about 18 minutes in each episode, not including the opening and ending. That works out to only about 3.7 new animation frames per second. In a 24 fps show. Geez, no wonder they reused animation so much, and no wonder there's so many long reaction shots just with characters talking. I'm never complaining about reused or looping animation ever again.

On the plot details: interesting that Lemo's wrinkles are actually indicative of old age, I was thinking he was just a naturally wrinkly alien. Curious what Chelye's relationship with Broly will be. Maybe Broly's getting a waifu? Or maybe she has pity for him and he kills her the second he's able, one of the two.

I'm never complaining about reused or looping animation ever again.

That doesn't justify it. The limited number of frames is Toei being cheap, and hurting the final product.

I mean, it's Dragon Ball. Along with One Piece it doesn't matter if the final product is crap because people will eat it up anyway. I can only assume that's the line of reasoning.

Should probably be like BHA and have split it into multiple seasons. Better quality in animation and maybe the script.

Anything is better than just one continuous season.

It’s proven with quite a few high-profile examples why the old way should be retired.

I'd think Goku Black and Future Zamasu would stick together as a side-effect of having the same soul, given they're the same person from different timelines

The dubbed version of the Great Saiyaman 2-parter was really good. Barry Khan's voice actor really sold that douchebag role.

Yeah. It was small, but I'm so glad they had Videl immediately call bullshit on Barry's trick.

In so many other anime, that gambit would have worked and said female would have never been called out on such a lack of trust.

Videl is better than that.

Videl for next Super Saiyan. Then revive Spopovitch so she can finally kick his ass.

Not just anime, it's a pretty common cliche in both romcoms and sitcoms.

But yeah, i'm glad they averted that and had her call Barry on his bull.

Not really. Being realistic, photographic evidence of your partner kissing someone is a pretty fucking good reason to think they're cheating on you, especially when you don't have anything to cast doubt on it.

Barry thinking this would make Videl interested in him was dumb, but as a plan to spite Gohan it should've been more effective than it actually was. Notably no-one actually cleared up the misunderstanding with Videl, she accepted that Gohan was innocent without evidence or him even saying so.

While this kind of plots are cheap and annoying, I don't think it would have been bad for Videl if she had been suspicious. That would be entirely reasonable in her situation.

Being given said evidence by someone who is obviously wanting to get into your pants and have a reason to hate Gohan may make it less than credible. Though I do agree that them never clarifying the misunderstanding is a bit iffy.

Yeah, there should've been a scene after with Videl going "Okay, so what WAS that all about?" and Gohan explaining it to her.

Well, they didn't really get the chance, since Watagash Barry came back mere moments later.

I'm sure Videl did want to ask what really happened, and probably did later. I don't really mind that we never saw it. As I said, it shows a level of trust that's often ignored in these situations for the sake of either comedy or drama.

If you questioning the name, then yes, his name is Barry Kahn, an actor.

If you're questioning the power levels, he was possessed by a space criminal called Watagash, and it's Super, so don't question it.
