I keep thinking back to when I was a child, and a kid was ranting at me that Broly is actually a fantastic character because he had nothing while Goku was pampered and spoiled, completely unprompted and I had no idea who Broly even was. Seems like you're not seeing much ravenous Broly fanboys because there's not that many here. Apparently some Broly fans in other places were angry at Toriyama forgetting about him and changing him. One even saying that Broly was the best part of pre-Dragon Ball Super, and Toriyama forgetting about him proves he's a senile hack.

My opinion on Broly changed over the years. Sort of.
Me in my childhood: Oh man! This Broly guy is awesome! He's so much fun to watch kick ass!
Me as a teenager: Oh man. Broly has such a lame backstory and is totally flat as a character. Broly is lame.
Me as an adult: Oh! Man, I don't watch Dragon Ball for the character development! Broly is so much fun to watch kick ass! He's awesome!
I'm honestly a bit scared they might try to change his backstory too much. Broly needs no motivation, he's there to run wild and beat shit up.

You are not alone.There's not much character development to watch for in the first place.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.This wouldn't surprise me actually. fan haters can get just as toxic as overzealous fans because they feel they must shut down said overzealous fans at every opportunity.
They do remember Toriyama never created Broly in the first place right outside of drawing him for the movie don't they?
This. So much this. It's how I've kinda always seen Broly. It's how he should be.
Honestly, Broly's simply motivations should be right up Toriyama's alley. Why are any of his villains the way they are. Most are pretty simple and petty:
- Pilaf wanted to rule the world;
- Red wanted to be taller (and didn't care who died to accomplish this);
- King Piccolo was literally Made of Evil and just wanted everyone to suffer.
- Vegeta was an elitist who wanted immortality
- Frieza was a sadistic bully who actually did rule the universe by virtue of being the biggest dog in the yard
- Cell wanted to show everyone how great he was
- Buu was a child who either didn't know any better, did know better and did it anyway, or in the end, didn't care and just rampaged about.
If he gets the appeal of Broly, then he doesn't have to change up his methods too much. Just give him a better motivation and that's it.

One Strip! One Strip!On Masako's video from the previous page, he doesn't seem to realize that there's a fairly standard monomyth arc in the Tournament of Power Arc. It's just that the character making the Hero's Journey is Android 17, not Goku; Goku's supposed to be the wise old mentor figure ala Gandalf or Obi-Wan Kenobi in that story.

Okay I have to say I’ve been getting a disturbed feeling due to noticing how there’s a rather elitist vibe going on from Broly haters.
Like how apparently Broly fans are a bunch of casuals who are dragging DB down due to Toriyama placating them for easy shillings.
Honestly I’ve been seeing more toxicity from the Broly haters than the actual Broly fans despite the latter supposedly being the ones who I keep hearing are the really toxic fans.
