It's the 21st, so Viz has officially translated
Chapter 37 of Toyotaro's Super Manga for free on their site.
Also, there's a decent chance Aniraza/Anilaza will be in the Manga:
- A spreadsheet for "fighters to look for" in the Super Manga
did include our first full-length character design for Universe 3's combiner on February 17, oddly enough.
- Prior to that, only Super Dragon Ball Heroes related content (like a blurred version of his card
◊, followed by the animated ad
with his form revealed) contained the only references for Anilaza until his anime debut on December 24.
Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime trailer:
EDIT: Also a commercial for Universe Mission 3:
Also, the website accidentally revealed a character who's coming back after over 20 years of obscurity.

I admit, it was a fun chapter.
I do like Kale's portrayal in this more than the anime (where it's not that she lacks confidence, but that she purposely holds back out of respect for the person she admires).
One Strip! One Strip! What would you guys call Toriyama's strongest point as a writer?
While I've had a lot to complain about in terms of how he does things, I can't really think of a specific thing I like.
I guess I've enjoyed some of the fights, and he can be pretty funny on occasion. Since I came into the series very late, and a lot of the stuff he subverted back then are now old hat, it's hard to say, but I want to see what others have to say.
One Strip! One Strip! As an artist he's phenomenal at depicting silhouette and sequence (to the point it's actually bothering me when I read some other manga) .
As a writer he's fairly creative and excellent at bathos.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"I once talked to a guy who said that Toriyama has created the near perfect manga.
What he meant by this is that everything he did in DB ranging from the inking, art, paneling, fight scenes, character designs is perfect aside from the story.
If you only remove the speech bubbles then you would effectively have the perfect manga.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Also, regarding Kafla in the Manga: Fuwa is the only Kai to ''not'' be seen with
◊ his earrings on. Even Shin
◊ in a similarly crowded shot still has his own drawn.
Make that what you will.
I would say that, despite it also hurting him at times, Toriyama's Writing by the Seat of Your Pants style is very alluring to me for how well he can sell sudden changes/additions/retcons in a story with some decent back-up. The Android to Cell Sagas are a memorable example of this (the sudden reveal of Cell once the Future Android 17 and 18 were defeated.)
His worldbuilding is also pretty good, even if he doesn't seem too interested in expanding upon certain ideas (like the Demon Realm, Freeza's Race) besides being a good background for a representative of that place.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be named Anilaza because of the pun. A-ni-la-za -> La-za-ni-a.
Anyway I liked the new chapter. Good action (seeing Frieza pull out the telekinesis is always fun) and I like to see new matchups that didn't happen in the anime so Frieza taking on Caulifla and Kale is neat.
"That guy can't be human!"
"Whatever planet this kid's from, it's Not Earth."
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's hard to say what his greatest strength is. But I think he's definitely quite good at keeping such a long series consistent even while making things up on the flaw, and has been able to execute some questionable ideas and retcons quite well.
Anyhow, I also prefer manga Kale's personality. Anime Kale ranged from awful (mixing Shrinking Violet and Yandere tendencies to make one really unappealing character) to slightly changing her motivation and portrayal but still having her be a fairly uninteresting trope. I liked Kale's take down of Dercori here.
I hope Toyo comes up with some further explanation of what Kale's form IS, but we didn't get that anywhere else so we probably won't here.
Seeing Freeza say that Super Saiyan wouldn't surprise him before Kale totally overpowers him is funny. I really like her Super Saiyan hairstyle here, as well.
Didn't see much difference in Caulifla's portrayal but I did like that she was quick to compliment Freeza when Freeza did the same to her.
They toned down how obnoxious Caulifa is, so she's much more tolerable to watch and going against someone like Freeza is a good way for us to root for her.
Kale is also much better here for reasons Saiga stated, her shrinking violet personality wasn't very interesting as well as the minor Yandere vibes she gave off. In the manga, she intentionally holds back how powerful she is out of respect for Caulifa. Similar reasons, but the execution makes it much less obnoxious to read.
And yes, I got some sadistic glee out of watch Freeza torture the Saiyans left and right; its what I wanted and I am glad I got it.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Hey would Dragon Ball Super (2018) be a Sequel in Another Medium? Because it's a movie taking place after the anime?
~@VulgarBee: Yes it would, for the exact reason you described (a weekly animated series's story continued through an animated theatrical movie).

The bottom of the barrel has been scraped so hard his named minions have to use laser guns now. By the way, apparently Sorbet 2.0 is a character who briefly appeared in Dragon Ball Minus, so that's cool.
The latest manga chapter had me giggling when Champa trash talked Frost right in front of him.

Chapter's out.
My thoughts while reading it: Man, the arena is a LOT smaller in the manga. I really like Caulifla having her own knock-off Kamehameha. Freeza and Caulifla's conversation about fighting a Super Saiyan feels odd, maybe it's just the translation. I really love the shading on Golden Freeza. Spoke too soon, it went away almost entirely next page. Caulifla commenting on how destructive Golden Freeza is is really awkward, since he only punched a tiny hole in the arena, much less than she did with her Notmehameha and Freeza himself did earlier with telekinesis. We're introducing the 'floating rocks you can stand on' part early too.
Bye Darkori, we hardly knew ye. Bye Preecho, we never knew ye. Kale is a completely different character in the manga. Instead of having unconscious Hulk-like power born out of jealousy and self-hatred, she is fully aware of how strong she is and holds back to not overshadow Caulifla. Personally, I still prefer the anime's take, but this is interesting. Kale kicking Golden Freeza's ass is awesome, and I have to say that he definitely deserves the Puny God treatment more than Goku did. Looks like standard SSB has been replaced permanently by PSSB.
Oh, I REALLY like that Kale is consistently being drawn more and more muscular over time, that's a great little attention to detail. And just like that, it ends abruptly. Huh.
This was a really good chapter. Felt rather short, but the action was solid. I think I still prefer anime Kale, but this is definitely a good, interesting take on the character, and I'm looking forward to see what the next chapter brings. I'm very happy to say that I was wrong, and I'm glad the manga turned it around.
