Goku is the strongest, Goku will always learn new techniques, Goku will always be the first to achieve a powerup, Goku is pretty much the main character of the series.

"pretty much?"

He... he is the main character. That's no secret. He's... the protagonist.

Is that news to anyone?

Only two of those are true...

Kakarrot will only earn a new power up first if it's exclusive to him...

"The main character sucks, [insert character I like] should be the main character instead" is hardly new. Goku might be hit by it harder than any other character I've seen.

He got super saiyan and super saiyan bad hair day first and those didn't end up being exclusive.

It is weird that the four superfluous characters didn't learn any new moves at King Kai's. What were they doing there the whole time?

The only transformations Goku didn't get first were the ones in the Cell Arc, aside from Full Power Super Saiyan.

Didn't King Kai say he was going to put them through even harder training than Goku went through? Maybe he was actually referring to his comedy lessons.

In fairness, like with training with Kami they do get a bigger jump up than Goku got from the same teacher. But ultimately to little purpose.

[up][up] Damn, using them for free labor. That's low, King of all Planet No Wait Just This One Galaxy Kai

No, different teacher. God delegated Goku's training to Popo fairly early on

In the anime at least King Kai brings the souls of the Ginyus to spar with Piccolo et al. and they actually win, which would mean he powered them up orders of magnitude more than he did Goku.

Saiga Since: Feb, 2011 Relationship Status: Getting away with murder

Yeah but that was idiotic. They'd been there six days and the Ginyus were 20 times stronger than them.

I could see that happening at the end of their training.

It's kind of dumb Kami didn't train Goku if Goku was going to be fighting the reincarnation of his evil self

But that's Kami

But is it as bad as him trying to kill Piccolo Jr., thereby invalidating the entire arc, after the latter had already been defeated?

I'm not sure. Considering they were never going to be involved in the arc, I can only assume he just did it because he could, and only figured out the thing with Piccolo some time before...though I might be wrong. He may have always planned to send Piccolo to Namek and the other three were just brought along for the ride as often happens with him.

It makes perfect sense for the characters to end up there. What else were they going to do while dead? It's just what is most in-character for them.

with the information we have at the time it does make sense with current information they could have easily gone to train with other dead heroes from other galaxies and potentially picked up a few new techniques or battle tactics.

The dead heroes get trained in the afterlife thing is anime only.

There's no indication that any of the heroes kept their bodies the next time they died in the Buu saga.

Enma was also overworked from all the deaths on Earth, and they were some of the last to die. There's no reason to think they wouldn't get their bodies, but they would have most likely been stuck in the line by the time everyone got revived.

We're talking about the Boo arc, when they're killed and not heard of again until their revival.

edit: Also, Goku outright says that no-one in the afterlife was on par with him at the start of the Boo arc, so he couldn't even practice fusion.
