I agree that Krillin and Tien not getting to do anything is very disappointing, but I do like how Frost was handled. In the anime, his reliance on cheap tactics ended up making him not look that strong, while him cleaning house in the manga makes Frieza betraying him feel like a good strategy to take out a powerful opponent with little effort, as opposed to how the anime felt like Frieza was just messing around with him.
I will admit that I been negative towards Super, Super actually cause to rethink what I like about Dragon Ball as it seems to use nostalgia but it lacks context as to why it worked in the first place. I will admit to being negative however Super did do something right, it helped me to understand Dragon ball a little better.
Also don't worry about other people too much if you like the show, then you like the show if other people don't.
"Mai waifu."Frankly, I'd say the issue was with Toriyama deciding to use Tien and Krillin (and Roshi) in the first place. Well, maybe not Krillin.
Honestly, if it's between (badly) pretending they can and should matter, and just getting them out of the way, I'd prefer the latter. The Tien vs. Sniper thing was riddled with holes from the get go. I don't consider it a service to the character, if the situation you have them being "useful" in falls apart under brief inspection.

Again they don't need to win. If they are gonna just be eliminated then have it be to some other erson so we can at least say hey that person might be an issue. Instead it was to someone we already knew where they stood power wise. It accomplishes nothing but removing pieces which shouldn't be a plus.
My guess the movie villain is either Yamoshi or whatever evil king dude he fought.

See, the thing is that it wasn't a choice for Toei and Toyotaro (as much as I can dislike Toei). Toriyama was straight about it, the tournament needed to have 80 characters yes or yes. I've always said it, Toriyama is not a writing genius, he has some pretty dang amazing ideas but they need to be polished by an editor. Now that he alone is in charge of his work, we get some questionable choices like having a tournament with EIGHTY characters. I feel like a good editor could have told him to cut on the non-important characters, hell, maybe reduce the numbers to 64 or 56, or have one of the fodder universes not be there (9 or 10). Maybe still too many but much more manageable.

Honestly I'm just upset that Roshi gets something to do at all. I'd really rather they just retire his character completely.
This song needs more love.i'm glad that we're not getting a movie about the past of the saiyans or whatever. we don't need to know anything else.
i mean, this movie could still reveal more about them, but at the very least i'm glad it doesn't take place entirely in the past or whatever
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI thought we were getting stuff on the past of the Saiyans. It's just a part of the movie instead of the whole focus.
This song needs more love.Ten and Kuririn still had a point. Their eliminations made Freeza's 'betrayal' more convincing instead of the really flat attempt the anima pulled with Gohan. And it makes more sense for Frost to trust Freeza after that, and shows Freeza getting more use of of Frost in eliminating U 9 fighters.
That subplot still wasn't a great idea, but this is a much better execution.
He told Frost they were the weakest of his team and that he should go for them. Frost therefore believed he was on his side, and followed his other suggestions, going all out from the beggining then getting knocked out with minimal effort after tiring out, eliminating some 9 fighters in the process.
No, he got Frost to do it.

Well, I'd argue Frost has no reason to exist when Frieza is around and vice versa (did we really need two of them, and back to back too?), but looking at it that way, it means someone was gonna get short changed in order to facilitate Frieza's plan, which means someone was always gonna be his fodder, no matter who they used.
This wouldn't have happened if Toriyama just used Buu.

One Strip! One Strip!Well, yeah. I never wanted Freeza back either.
@Eriorguez I had the same idea for F Trunks, which I'd only mentioned to Arha. I don't like the time line being erased but if it had to happen, Trunks going to Cell's time line is neat because that time line is at peace but has no Trunks and Bulma /Trunks could be reunited while still acknowledging what they both lost.

I kinda agree. If there was no real intent to use them, then they shouldn't have been there. Either cut down how many there were, or just use better people.
One Strip! One Strip!
