You know, I should like the manga more... but the more I think about it...
I think the anime is actually better. The manga explains things better but it's written so stoically that it doesn't enjoy itself. The lack of Toriyama's artwork doesn't help.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Really? I thought Toyotarou's art is pretty close to Toriyama's.
As for the manga vs the anime...well my issues with both stem more from how Toriyama has built his world (pushing out the secondary characters, putting everything on Goku, making how much Ki you have the end all or be all decider for who wins a fight).
The manga is closer to how things are done in the manga, while the anime takes liberties like the DB and Z anime. Both really follow Toei and Toriyama's styles respectively really.
One Strip! One Strip! The fights were really difficult to follow, which is sometimes a problem I have in manga because of the reading right to left, but usually Toriyama's stuff is still clear. However, I watched one of the Super Eyepatch Wolf videos (the one on what he calls the Z manga even though it's still just the DB manga, but anyway it's the Z portion of chapters) and he points out how flawless Toriyama's compositions and stuff are and how it makes it easy to follow.
That's what I think Toyotaro isn't good at.
"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"On why the no-killing rule exists even though most of these people are supposed to be erased: I'd image it's for the one universe that isn't erased by the end. Winning the tournament doesn't mean all members get out alive if killing is allowed, and if the entire point of this is survival, that might not mesh well for the winners.
Under that line of logic, Jiren's actions should still get him disqualified.

That would be negative...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Okay having now finally seen the episode Jiren's attack on the stands is a clear BLAM moment.
Nobody else reacts to it, not any of the Gods or Angels cause logically that attack would hit everyone not just U7 & after Goku stops it its immediately brushed aside like that with even none of the U7 guys commenting on it afterwards.
Its clearly just a cheap trick to give Goku a "Don't hurt my friends" moment cause whenever your doing friendship nonsense ya always gotta have the baddie attack his friends to make the point.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."You say that like he had a choice...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Its weird cause they are doing a very modern approach of friendship that clashes heavily with the very old cast.
I mean I'm not saying DB devoid of friendship but it was of course done differently. Just look at Goku going berserk over Krillen's death, everyone's assists in the Perfect Cell vs Gohan beam struggle, & Goku's speech to get Vegeta to fuse against Super Gohan Buu.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I heard a theory, lemmie posit it here, see what you guys think.
Goku had second thoughts about eliminating Jiren, and those second thoughts in and of themselves were what knocked him out of the form. Ultra Instinct is based around automatically doing what your body says is right without thinking about it. Goku fell out of Ultra Instinct because he had a thought about not eliminating Jiren.

Just looked up a raw version of the latest super chapter.
Wow. Krillin and Tien did horribly. I mean, it's more in line with what you'd expect, but still. Being taken out without even doing anything is pretty pathetic.
I can't remember what that interview said about why those guys in particular were chosen, but it feels like the story was just trying to get them out of the way as quickly as possible.
Why even have them there if you aren't going to use them. You could have gone with Buu, used Goten and Trunks, and kept Future Trunks around as well.
One Strip! One Strip!
