I mean, Toriyama tends to run out of things to do with some characters very quickly.
Bulma was lucky enough to still often have some kind of role in the story.
Oolong and Puar never had much use after the first arc, and Launch was so bad that he never really did anything with her then outright threw her out of the story. He could have easily done the same to her if not for her being the female lead (even if far less important than most).
One Strip! One Strip!Finished up the U6 Tourney. Monaka vs. Hit was hilarious, as was Goku vs. Beerus dressed as Monaka where the latter just completely loses his shit. Stupid Yamcha.
I like how domesticated Vegeta is. It's prime material for comedy and it shows him growing in a way Goku never did (why is Goku so damn beloved a character when he's been static for over thirty years?)
Grandpa Piccolo is adorable. He is Pan's real grandfather. Also more Pilaf Gang.
Is the stuff with Copy Vegeta worth watching or should I skip it? I know he's voiced by the old VA but eh.

Well that's what they say is the point of the Vanilla Protagonist.
A character's simple unchanging personality that helps facilitate the development of others.
Though even then Goku has changed but only subtly...... till Super of course where he developed backwards.

You should know "Piccolo is real dad" jokes are played out, dead, & are annoying to people now.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."He's not entirely static, he develops to gain some respect for his Saiyan heritage after rejecting Vegeta's ideal of it. And his attitude on killing changes over the course of the series.
On 18's strength: beating Ribrianne doesn't imply much about 18's strength. There is no minimum established for being an ace, and U 2 overall does not have very good showings. The fact that 18 started out stronger than Freeza means I could already totally buy her being stronger than another universe's ace.
And Super is so inconsistent it's hard to judge if she's meant to be stronger based on performance. She didn't look very strong when being saved by Kuririn.
I know Gokal-El is an invention of the English Dub, but I prefer that to a fight crazed barbarian who constantly annoys everyone around him.
Granted, the latter certainly is more original, in that Goku basically originated the fight loving, constantly hungry Shonen protagonist, but had actual reasons for his behaviour when everyone else was just copying him.
And I wouldn't say "Piccolo is real dad" if the episode didn't literally have Goku lose Pan because he fell asleep.

Even then watching Kai along with Super shows the immense differences in Goku's portrayal.
Kai actually has him act like an adult & takes shit seriously while Super has him act like a dumbass child.
He had no reason to believe she could fly when she's just an infant. I'm sure Piccolo would have made the same mistake if he took a nap.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."U2 was in this weird position of the story treating them like a joke, but at the same time acting as if we're supposed to take them as a serious threat. It did not mesh well at all.
I don't think Piccolo would take a nap. Though Goku only did that because he figured Piccolo was hovering around her, because that's all he had been doing the entire time, except for when the story needed Pan to get lost/kidnapped.

Its not that Goku never changed, it's that Super fucked up his character immensely. I cannot stress how terribly they did Goku throughout the entire series. Out of all of Super's writing flaws, Goku's character is arguably at the top of it.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. It's "closer" in the sense of Toriyama trying to correct something he felt the Anime messed up on his character by making him too heroic. But Toriyama decided to do the opposite and just made him as obnoxious as he could, because it's "true".
So yea, the main character ends up being the least likable of the cast. Good job Toriyama sensei :V
And yea, Super fucks up everyone. Gohan gets it bad too, he's barely in the show for the most part and when he is, he's just lackluster. Vegeta is that weird flux of them trying to play up his old role as The Rival, but then try to make him seem to move on either.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. What's infuriating is when people defend Super's Goku by saying he's always been like that & its Toriyama's wish.
I've talked to people like that & I nearly popped a blood vessel.
Amusing in that I have seen articles praising Super's handling on characters & development especially in regards to Vegeta & 17.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

I mean, yeah. What exactly was she suppose to do after sending the message about Veggie and Freeza?
