I think you demonize the character more than he is meant to be seen as, and I think you will be disappointed if you want the show to humiliate him as if he's a villain. Hell, aside from Roshi (and Grandpa Gohan if you count him), I'd say Jiren is the most good final boss of any arc in Dragon Ball. He's Lawful Neutral at absolute worst.
I wish Kafla had unlocked Super Saiyan 3 to fight Ultra Instinct "Omen" Goku.
◊ It would've made her strength a bit easier to swallow, it would've been cool as fuck, and it would've paid off the earlier foreshadowing of them wanting the form and saying they'd achieve it "together".
Just the Kamehameha, which takes up less time than you'd think, as I discovered on rewatches.

Actually, now that Super's nearing its end, there's something I'd like to ask the thread. How would you guys rank the "final bosses" of each series in the franchise - Piccolo Jr., Kid Buu, Omega Shenron and Jiren?
Personally, I'd rank Piccolo as my favorite, followed by Kid Buu, then Jiren, then Omega Shenron.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Piccolo Jr. is definitely the final boss, though he's played much more as an evolution of King Piccolo than as a seperate character to begin with.
I'd say he's the best, though to be fair the other three aren't great.
(I'm assuming we're going anime series seeing as we're treating DB and DBZ as seperate)
Piccolo Jr. is not only the reincarnation of Goku's worst enemy up to that point, he also stands between Goku and his long running goal of finally winning a Tenkaichi Budokai. He also has his fair share of wham moments, including reversing the Evil Containment Wave.
Compared to that, the final confrontation with Kid Buu doesn't feel nearly as personal, Omega Shenron was a great concept but poorly executed, and Jiren... well... let's hope he at least gives us a good fight going out.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"The original Dragon Ball isn't the end of a series. Dragon Ball is one continuous series.
If you have to use a trope, Jr. Is a Disc-One Final Boss.
So the only final bosses are: Kid Buu, Omega, and Jiren
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Anime Jiren is dead last for me. So boring as a character. Manga Jiren is pretty cool though, I agree.
Warrior to the very end! My tumblr, dood!So watching the dub version of the Black arc again makes me once again lament the decision to not use Future Trunks for the Tournament of Power.
Can you imagine him interact with the current versions of 17 and 18? That's golden Character Development for all three. Trunks fighting alongside two different versions of the two people he spent years trying to kill.
I don't know who decided not to keep him around, but they missed out badly.
One Strip! One Strip!...is Manga Jiren really that much better?
I suppose making Jiren paradoxically have a desire to protect his universe and then give up that desire for the sake of obtaining a wish, and then abandon that wish due to his previous desire is stronger characterization than him just being a silent, Arrogant Kung Fu Guy.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!

Something I'm wondering now is Jiren honorable or not?
Cause he has acted like such a huge prick that him going Worthy Opponent on Goku was weird.
I would have preferred if he underwent a villainous breakdown & panicked like the villains before him & launched that blast out of fear & despair than respect.
I don't want him to have a dignified defeat, he doesn't deserve it.
