That was... a time-chewing episode.
Episode 129: The Final Battle
"Oh you thought Jiren was at max power? Turns out he has more power."
"You thought Goku was going to lose? He's got even more limits to break!"
"Don't count Jiren out yet because he's going to use MORE power against Goku and Goku can't do sh't about it!"
"Ha hah, but Goku has even MORE potential and can MASTER this form, so hah, get F'CKED Jiren."
-next episode-
Episode 130: The REAL Final Battle
"Now for the real final battle Jiren..."
"You think you've won Son Goku! Hah, I haven't even taken off my shirt yet. -takes off shirt- and NOW we fight as warriors!"
On one hand, Beerus, Whis, and the gang chewing the scenery like this is an unforgivable waste of time.
On the other hand, Zeno imitating a Kamehameha was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Okay I demand an explanation on where the Hell Goku is getting all this power from.
How the Hell can UI make him so strong exactly when the catalyst appeared to be nothing more than a simple spirit bomb?
To quote the characters "Where is all this heat coming from?"

That very question was asked in 110, and Whis provided an answer. Goku wouldn't be this powerful if he had simply absorbed the Spirit Bomb, it's something different. The Spirit Bomb black hole pushed him to the brink of death and his refusal to die is what broke his limits, unlocking Ultra Instinct and allowing him to survive the Spirit Bomb. The power Goku's been pulling out in Ultra Instinct over time is a simple matter of his progressively getting better with the form and getting more used to using Ultra Instinct while attacking.
At the same time, when Goku previously pulled out Omen he was specifically using the Spirit Bomb as fuel to temporarily maintain the transformation. Against Kafla, he should have been out of energy to begin with, doubly so after Blue Kaio-ken, but he still managed to use it for a time anyway.
Now he should be even more out of energy with him being unable to even maintain Blue, but he can apparently use the form for a longer time without a fuel source.
Of all the things to complain about, I'm honestly not sure if this is one of them. Where did the energy come from for the Super Saiyan transformations? Constantly saying the characters are out of strength without having them actually act like it aside, this is one thing I can let slide because it feels like transformations have always been this way.
With the way he nearly died from the Spirit Bomb, got face-kicked by Kafla and got a 2nd massive pumbling from Jiren, I think Ultra Instinct might be activated when Goku somehow nearly dies, which then makes his mind stop and his body go on auto pilot. As for the energy, it seems that the power-up is triggered when he borrows energy (Spirit Bomb, Frieza, Vegeta). So the near-death experience combined with the borrowed energy causes Goku (and presumably other UI users) to reach Ultra Instinct. And that final clash between Jiren and Goku let him break through his limits even further without passing out like before.
As for how Goku mastered UI in only 3 years of Whis' training while other gods have tried achieving for millennia with no luck, I'm gonna just leave it to Saiyan biology. The other gods are just normal beings who have trained for an eternity to reach godhood, with a couple of 'em being humans (Helles and Vermoud), but Goku's Saiyan Blood is what got him past a lot of stuff in the past, and he already technically passed the god threshold when he surpassed Shin back in the Buu Saga. Those constant zenkais and power-ups, that's why Goku can reach powers that others haven't been able to before.
TL;DR, Goku's built his life on exploits.
Outside of Kakarrot's 1st SSJ transformation, no other transformation in the series has ever recovered the character's energy.
They've not had the chance to.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Super Saiyan giving a second wind is fine, and UI giving a second wind would also be fine. But they explicitly established it as not doing that by having it require the Spirit Bomb to use as fuel. Then when Goku is even more exhausted, it no longer requires some form of power source. So it's inconsistent with what it established from the start.
edit: Also, UI giving a third and fourth wind would still be an issue, because Super Saiyan only ever did that the first time.

Yeah the original Super Saiyan transformation was simpler compared to UI. Its become a bit .... uh convoluted now.
Also like that's the main reason why the Saiyan's are top dogs right, Zenkai boosts?
I mean they have transformations sure but Frieza has managed to keep pace on that.
Basically spread the Zenkai boostery all around, I'd like to see Vegeta's face when he finds out one of the core basis of the Saiyan pride isn't even uniquely their's in the first place.

oh speaking of, I really want Demons (or whatever the demon realm race is called) to be playable in Xenoverse 3 (hopefully with a Demon God form as well...)
