That works for me because it really cements Gohan as selfless. He doesn't want anyone getting hurt, and he's caring enough to be moved even by 16's death.
Also not sure what part you're disagreeing with when you don't elaborate. But it's inarguable that there is a difference between series that let you gain more power from friendship or anger alone compared to ones that require an actual power-up to do so.

Personally, I always felt like Gohan not having a deep attachment to 16 made his transformation more meaningful, because it said more about him as a person. It didn't need to be his best friend, or his dad, or Piccolo or something, just the fact that someone died and he could have saved them but didn't was more than enough, and I found that great.
Huh,

I don't disagree, since Gohan has always been selfless, but I would still like if the two talked about, I don't know, something before 16 bit the dust.
Android 16 speech is still my favorite speech in the series, though.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.16 and Gohan having a moment would have been nice.
I always wonder what changes I would make for a remake of the series, and giving Gohan a bigger role during the Cell arc is one of those changes; I think maybe if he had had a bit of a tussle with 16 prior to 16 turning good that would have been good. Would have given 16 more time to breathe since he doesn't really get a big action outing.

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"
Part of me would love an Ultimate Universe treatment, but another side of me doesn't. Dragon ball is like Sonic The hedgehog, where no one can agree on what they like.
This is a very flawed series, there are good things, and bad things. Let's all be friends here.

But there are plenty of things that I (and others) find wrong with it, and many of Pushover's arguments against that never seem particularly convincing. And I don't think that's (significantly) due to inherent bias against it, because I don't think anyone here wants to dislike Super.

I don't. I know people love it, but I'm not fond of it.
Saiga, don't be overly negative. There are good things even among the bad things, and there are bad things among the good.

Ehhh...
Like, there's nothing particularly wrong with the falconer score, and I'm no weeb. But some songs in the Japanese version are just, really really good (see the image song that Gohan goes SSJ 2 for, for instance) and not a lot of the falconer score hit that for me (well, Final Flash is pretty good).

"And when the last law was down and the Devil turned round on you, where would you hide, the laws all being flat?"Me saying an episode is fantastic is NOWHERE NEAR saying it is flawless. There is at least one thing I would change to improve EVERYTHING. BECAUSE NOTHING IS PERFECT. I WOULD NEVER SAY THAT SOMETHING IS PERFECT BECAUSE I THINK THE VERY IDEA OF PERFECTION IS CHILDISH AND IMPOSSIBLE. I KNOW I'VE NEVER DONE IT BECAUSE I WOULD NEVER DO IT.
If you believed that, you wouldn't be here.
Even if we disregard Super, you obviously enjoyed the original series right?

Yeah I'm just really missing it during the action scenes.
You really can't replace the SS 3 theme my homies.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

Yeah, it's not particularly imaginative but it wasn't pulled out of their ass either, essentially.
