When Krillin is allowed to have these moments, we'll tell you. Krillin is the one getting shafted here, not Tien.

It's not like Krillin never has the opportunity. Tien's just smart enough to make good use of his ultimate attack.

But they don't allow him to take it. He invents a better Taiyoken, then has to fight a blind fighter. Wins using an non-badass way, then immediately gets thrown offstage. Tien at least is allowed to be badass.

When it comes to training, quality always overcomes quantity. Look at at Future Gohan, who had like 15 years to train... and wasn't even one tenth of as strong as present Gohan after less than a year in Time Chamber.

Yeah, but I was including Gohan, Future Trunks, and Gotenks in that assessment.

I'll give you Gohan and Gotenks, but I'm pretty sure Future Trunks would beat him up pretty hard.

The improved Tayoken seems to be a bad case of Toei-made filler. Just like pretty much everything in the recruitment arc.

[up]Well if we're using that logic, literally every fight "shouldn't count", since Toriyama doesn't care about writing them anymore. And that's a deep dark rabbit hole I'm not willing to go down.

He's an enhanced human, so he's kind of cheating.

Yeah but that vast majority of his power is from pushups and sparring with poachers, so I just think of being enhanced as the same thing as being born with Saiyan blood. A good boost to start off with but hard work has to carry you most of the way.

Well, according to Vegeta, Saiyans also need pushups to become stronger. I think juice and situps also play a part.

Super doesn't have "filler" in the traditional sense. The anime and the manga are different adaptations of Toriyama's notes, and thus are separate continuities. Super Anime isn't an adaptation of Super Manga, nor is Manga inherently more accurate.

Yup.

But most people still consider the manga the true adaptation.

Honestly, I wish they'd just made sure the two were more consistent with each other.

Think people call it "filler" not because it's not in the manga, but usually because it ends up having no bearing on the plot later on.

Character moments and interactions themselves can be worth it even without directly moving the plot, if they're good enough.

The thing about Super is though, unless it is specifically trying to make you go "see how much these characters have developed!" it tends to have them acting like their less developed selves.

The manga also has filler this time around, but most of the time it is less flashy and more on point. The anime tends to build things up as important just to toss them to the wayside without fanfare.

No they do not. A few maybe, but it's not the prevailing opinion. Heck, I bet there's loads of people who aren't even aware that there is a manga.

[up]Honestly there's far more people who prefer the anime that any kind of opinion relating the manga being more popular is farcical.

I consider the anime as the "true" version of Super and the manga as an alternative interpretation of how the anime's events could have gone.

I consider neither canon. the series ended at the Buu saga.

The manga and the anime are the same story seen through two different lenses.

Neither has to be more "official" or "true" than the other.
