I feel like Toppo was blatantly flying for most of this episode. Not that this is the only time in the tournament that's been a thing.
As for Freeza and 17, my guess is that 17 eliminates but is simultaneously eliminated by Toppo next episode, and Goku and Vegeta go on to fight Jiren. Everyone forgets about Freeza since he's critically injured and off to the side, and so out of sight, out of mind. Thus opening him up to make a final betrayal right at the end of the tournament in an attempt to get his hands on the wish. Dunno whether he's going to succeed or not: it depends on what the big threat the arc is leading up to is going to be - either Freeza starts something, or the Priest starts something.

It's such a forgettable rule restriction...
As long as they're pushed outside of the arena, they'd be disqualified anyway since there's no other ground.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Toppo was pretty clearly using flight to propel himself across the arena during various points at the fight - it's really noticeable during the points where he's chasing Freeza and 17, iirc.
I feel like the artists either forgot about the restriction or, more likely, just wanted to go all out in making Toppo's transformation impressive, and fudged the rules because they were getting in the way of that.

I think what stands out most about 17 is that, the start of the arc was really making it seems like Gohan was going to be the one to make it to the end with Goku. So it's not just that he outlasted Gohan, but outside of Vegeta he's also teamed up with Goku the most throughout the tournament.
I like 17, so I'm actually reveling in the shilling, but yeah it is odd lol

A bit late, but that was the first time that Cell had ever been injured that badly. Even if he regenerates from it, I imagine it was a bit of a surprise getting hit that hard. There's a reason he goes "Oh shit" in a good number of translations of that scene. And the original Japanese as well, if I'm not mistaken.
I still find it sad that people are being angry that non sayian characters are mattering
I think its good thing that after saying "Oh infinite energy is useful in hour long battle royale since they won't get tired" that its actually the case and is shown in practice

It's not like 17 lasting this long makes a point about bit characters/weak characters being able to last longer in this tournament, because they made him one of the most powerful and put lots of focus on him.
For that to work for me it'd have to happen in a way that makes sense. And I don't think it's unexpected at all with how constantly he has been shilled to begin with.
