Eh...I wouldn't exactly say it's not doing anything new. They definitely retread old ground, but several stuff like the protagonists outright failing their goal in the Future Trunks arc, the two team styled tournaments, and (unless you count the Battle of Gods movie) transformations obtained in the heat of battle not being able to defeat the arc's antagonist haven't really been done previously in Dragon Ball.
Fuck Dyspo out. Next up is Toppo.
Alright gotta ask, hypothetically did he do enough in this episode to give him his own move-set for Fighter Z or is he in the end better suited as an assist character for say Jiren or Toppo?
Well its not like its permanently ending. We'll prolly get a new show after the movie.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."So like, is Frieza just a good guy? He's botched his betrayal three times now.

This song needs more love.If we do end up getting a Universe 11 character in F Ighter Z's DLC, I'm assuming they'll all just end up being assists for Jiren. It's unlikely that they'll give them more than one character slot, and if it's going to be one of them, it's going to be Jiren.
That said, speaking entirely hypothetically... yeah. he's got enough specials (I haven't been paying attention enough to speak about normals) that a game could probably make him unique if they really wanted him to be. Especially if, instead of a damaging super, they were to give him Super Light Speed as a Genei Jin / Custom Combo-style install that increases his movement speed, attack speed, some move properties and ability to juggle. It would work, it's just not likely.
He'd be that Fragile Speedster character like Taokaka.
Anyway, ok episode. Kind of spent a bit too much time on setting up a betrayal that never happened. We know the series is ending, so we know nothing is going to come from it. I do like how he's faster than Freeza even if he's not as strong, gives him an edge beyond just being powerful.
All things considered, Gohan did well enough. Yes, I know people are going to give him shit because of all of the memes, but there really wasn't much anyone could ask for. He came up with a good plan and when that failed, he adapted quickly and took one for the team.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. You know every ep I become more and more convinced that these eps would flow so much better if people were erased immediately after being eliminated. Because holy shit are these constant cuts to someone (Shin, Krillin, Roshi, etc) repeating the same exact two lines over and over again with the only change being who they’re talking about easily the worst thing in this arc.
“Gasp! (U7 character) was hit! He’s gonna lose!”
“Hurray! (U7 character) hit the opponent! He’s gonna win!”
Is it just me? Am I overreacting? Am I the only one wishing the peanut gallery would just shut the hell up?

Do you know what people want the most? Something somebody else has.Well someone has to go out considering U7 can easily win this tournament by just lasting long enough.
Also I find hilarious how after God knows how many episodes featuring nearly 80 characters we finally see someone other than Goku suffer clothing damage & its motherfucking Toppo.
Seriously that is hilarious, Yosemite Sam is going shirtless mofuckers.
