I just realized.
The reasons for the Androids being stronger in the past is because the universe hates Trunks.
It was so obvious. Argument done. I win.

One Strip! One Strip! The point of Future Trunks being wrong means more to his characterization than any attempt to establish his time meddling as relevant. He refuses to accept his own weakness against the Future Android 17 and 18, so the first assumption he makes is the past ones are stronger. This same kind of character flaw plays a part in his fight with Perfect Cell, where he assumes he's stronger than Vegeta because of Super Saiyan Grade 3, being completely blind to its weaknesses because of his own opinion on his power level.
But it's not treated that way at all. Trunks is very clearly amazed at how powerful Vegeta is and that it seems like he has an actual chance of winning, something he knows he has no chance of accomplishing. It isn't framed as him being arrogant, it's framed as making the their (current timeline folks) situation even more dire than his already is.
It's treated as another one of the multiple instances meant to show that he has no idea what's going on anymore because things have legitimately changed, including Goku getting sick at the wrong point, the wrong androids coming, 16 being activated, and Cell coming.

He didn't plan anything that happened in that SAGA...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah, yeah...Karrot's a true hero by coincidence.
How disappointing.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Wouldn't be the first time Goku saved the day without really meaning to.
There's was that evil army he shitstomped entirely because they pissed him off.
Gero is just like HIS creator it seems.

One Strip! One Strip!Heh doesn't make him into a total idiot at least, he still inadvertently saved people.
x6 Sure he pretty much lost control of everything the moment he let the 17 & 18 out but he did create all the antagonists in his desire to kill Goku including creating a genetic-abomination with the mish-mash powers of several of the universes greatest warriors that for a time became without a doubt the strongest mortal existence within Universe 7. Gero actually succeeded in his plan barring Goku's eventual resurrection.
Oh yeah but letting 17 & 18 out is what killed him in the end.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Gero lost control of everything the moment Vegetarian showed up...more like it.
Though he would've lost even if they killed Kakarrot...just by Piccoro.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice....Goku has never saved a universe during a tournament; the closest would have been the thing with Universe 6, and even then the only consequence to losing would have been the Earths switching universes, something that Goku points out would have not really change anything.
Also no, everyone would have not died, since four of the universes were already safe from deletion before the tournament was made.

Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Gero would have faired better if he'd actually kept track of Goku and learned he'd had a heart attack in the original timeline.
No need to waste time with rebellious shit 1 and 2 if the guy they were made to kill isn't even around anymore. Then, just dogpile Piccolo and Vegeta with 19, and kill everyone else slowly, then rule the world.
One Strip! One Strip! You know that red eyed military man from the intro? I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll try to send his planet's military to attack U7 Earth to distract the U7 team in an ill-conceived plot to forfeit the tournament.
YER ALL

DAMMIT MARK, STOP HITTING HELPY!!I was thinking about what would happen if the Marvel Universe participated in the multiverse tournament.
Then I realized there quite a few what ifs and some canon mortals that could roflstomp everyone there, including.
Colossus. More specifically, Juggernaut Colossus
◊ (Cytorrak, the being who created the crystal that makes the juggernaut suit, is a celestial who makes odin at full power look like a damn joke, and odin and another baddie shook the multiverse with a punch that makes beeru's and gokus universe shaking punches look like a child's temper tantrum in comparison. Make of that what you will).
Sentry, whos basically schizophrenic superman who's strongest split personality can fight on par with Dark Pheonix Jean Grey and a fully fed Galactus..
Gladiator, another Superman ripoff who destroyed a supermassive black hole by brute forcing his way out of it, and consistently no sells the Juggernaut in every encounter they fight in.
I could go on, but yeah.

Watch SymphogearThis is just in: Comic book power scaling is the most absurd thing ever.
In other news, the Sun is rather warm.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Does that count as flamebait?
I mean he came in going "yeah I was thinking of how the Marvel universe would totally stomp the Dragon Ball universe". I think that the only thing missing is 'Fight me nerds'.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari

The difference of effort the put in fighting him in both timelines...
