Considering how the Future Trunks Arc ended, I wouldn't pass this arc ending on a similar note or even a flown blown downer ending.
I mean Future Trunks ended pretty depressingly & only just barely qualifies as a bittersweet ending. Future Trunks should have just pulled a Rachel Summers & made the present time his new permanent home.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Zalama: Tell me mortal, what is thine wish?
Goku: I wish for all the universe destroyed in the tournament to be restored to as they were before the tournament.
Zalama:..............frakin' sonuvabitch Zen'o, this is the second time this happened! First it was those six, and now THIS?
Both Zen'o: Sorry papa.
Zalama: I shall grant your wish mortal, but only because it is you that's asking for it!
"...only because of you..."
What? Does he owe Karrot a favor or somethin'?

Well, that would certainly make King Kai guilty.
So, re-watching the original Fortune Smeller TELLER Baba arc.
So, Goku never learned to say her name right did he?
Also, seeing how this one originally went down, Yamcha always draws the shortest of short straws in Tournament fights.
I guess that's why his death in the Saiyan Saga is the proverbial Wafer Thin Mint that cemented his status as a Memetic Loser.
Word of God states he could have legitimately won if he hadn't dropped his guard, and at that point, fans just accepted (and gleefully embraced) that he was the joke character who'd always fail.
Still it's shitty luck to be the dude who draws the Invisible Man. I wonder how Goku would have faired at that point in the series.
One Strip! One Strip!Yes. We know.
Everyone has been saying it (I've said it a few times).
Gotta say, don't find it funny anymore.
One Strip! One Strip!Tell that to every fan in existence.
Me included.
I mean, yeah Zen-O chose to add such a stipulation, but who are the other fighters going to be able to do anything against...the unstoppable god who can erase entire universes with little more then a thought...
Or the completely mortal asshole who gave him the idea in the first place?
I know who I'd be looking to take a few chunks out of.
One Strip! One Strip!Kakarrot is not very chunky, so that wouldn't be too tough.

I could see this whole arc having a Hope Spot at the end where they summon Zarama and ask for the rest of the universes back, only for a Downer Ending when Zarama says that it's beyond his power.
