Hey alternate timelines might be a fun adventure.

Cause you know what's worse than one Goku? I tell you, 2 Goku's. tongue

Also maybe 2 Vegeta's cause they'd also want to compete a lot.

...

Ok, we gotta do something about this Goku is a bad father thing.

I mean, it's not like the show focuses on the moments where someone isn't either attacking him, or he's dead or somewhere else against his will.

I feel like this is going way too far now.

Are people just choosing to forget that Goku and Goten had some genuine bonding moments in this episode and Goten was going to train with Goku and it was him who decided to stay behind? But no, let's focus on a throwaway line.

I also wish people would stop talking about Vegeta being a good father (and husband) in any sense besides comparatively, seriously, he's not. Add in any hint of realism and his marriage would have never lasted a year (with someone like Bulma, anyway) and Trunks would probably resent him the way Abridged!Gohan resents Abridged!Goku.

Points to Gohan and Krillin for just being genuinely good in both departments, though.

That reminds me. It's kind of weird going back to Dragon Ball and being reminded that Kid Krillin was an arrogant jerk. It's just... mind-bending to think of these days.

Who cares about that, they're both still weaklings. They should just be like Goku and focus on training :V

Oftentimes, within this thread, we speak of many things. Of shoes, and ships, and sealing-wax. Of cabbages, and kings.

[up][up][up] Welcome, we usually speak of nearly anything as long as it related to DB.

Now the topic is whether Goku is that bad a father.

That training wasn't secret...that's just how the farming was done.

Who's saying Vegetarian is a good father, the accurate thing is to say he's better than Karrot.

People are totally saying Vegeta's a good father. Maybe not here, but a lot of people don't really understand (ostensibly) being better than someone else at something doesn't mean you can't still suck at it.

A Goku moment I liked in the last episode was that he intended to give up the food he got to bribe Whis for training to Bulma as a maternity present.

I don't think he even takes the offer back until she says that he doesn't have to do that for her.

We are talking about Vegeta, right? The same guy who couldn't bring himself to enjoy a vacation with his family, and who preferred the gravity room to his wife's birthday?

I actually did forget that. It's easy to let things like that slip when people focus on other more negative things.

Between his screw up in the recent episode, and all the stuff about how shitty a dad he is, I feel like Goku's better moments will be completely forgotten.

Seriously? Well, people do like to focus on the negative and reinforce already existing narratives. Plus it sounds like he made some genuine fuck ups as well.

I'm watching this on Toonami so I don't think I'll be watching any of the episodes subbed.

Honestly despite how nice it was, I wouldn't call what happened with Goten bonding.

The interaction was decent...short decent.
