Horrible justification, I don't care if that was even the "point". And that's assuming the stilted dialogue was purposeful.
Zamasu was just annoying to listen to, when he repeated the same things over and over.
And the crying....good lord the crying. Imagine if Frieza randomly started to cry?

Oh no, it's almost as if the villain you're supposed to hate is, le gasp, a villain who is easy to hate!
Besides, you've clearly endured much worse. Your avatar is the most annoying whiny villain of all time.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariHe was crying? What's the problem again?
He was too unlikeable in his unlikeable-ness?
This. There's "heat", and then there's "get off my screen" heat.

Think I'd rather listen to Obito bitch than Zamasu. Obito never made me wish a new arc would start up sooner.
But hey, if you feel like Zamasu was supposed to make me feel like watching something else...whelp, nothing to say to that.

The thing is, Zamasu might have been a complete asswipe, but when it comes down to it, the main difference is that you're supposed to hate him. At absolute best, he's a villain you can love to hate, but make no mistake, you're supposed to dislike him and want him dead as quickly as possible.
That is not the case with Obito.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariZamasu being purposefully annoying does not make him any less shitty though.
And the intention doesn't matter here; yes he's supposed to be annoying, and you want to see him defeated, etc, but I was past that. I just didn't want to see him anymore, creator intent be damned.
It's like heels in wrestling getting boo'd, except it's just X-Pac Heat....

Sometimes writers are just too good at making "people" dislike a character because they're suppose to.
And the whole point gets ruined.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah Obito might arguably be worse in that Kishi tried and failed to make him sympathetic/redeem him, but I was never quite as annoyed at him as I was with Zamasu.
Click Click Boom BoomI think that what he's trying to get through is that he doesn't find Zamasu entertaining. It's important to note that Likable =/= Entertaining, and I think the main problem here is that he doesn't find Zamasu entertaining, which is a valid opinion.
At least I hope that that's what he's trying to say, because if he's complaining about the deliberately unlikable character being unlikable, there's not much that we can help him with.
Incidentally, I'm in the completely reverse position from him - I couldn't wait for Obito to finally just die so someone more interesting and less obsessively whiny could take the center stage.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariIv'e been saying that the entire time.
I was never complaining about Zamasu being a purposefully unlikable character, I don't care about that. I don't have issues with characters like that, as long as they're somewhat enjoyable to watch.
I just don't like him because he's not entertaining. He made the Black arc just drag on.

I personally found Obito far worse than Zamasu, but only because the writing tried way too hard to make him seem sympathetic while Zamasu at least had an interesting idea behind him, even if it wasn't executed very well.
But yea, I don't think the problem is "complaining about an unlikable character being unlikable" and more "The writing surrounding this character makes me dislike them regardless of how I'm SUPPOSED to feel" or more simply, it's more of a problem with how Zamasu was written than Zamasu himself.
People never really seem to word that complaint correctly and it always get misinterpreted as hating the character themselves rather than the writing surrounding them. So remember, whenever you complain "X character sucks", perhaps you can word it as "The writing surrounding X character has made feel a particular amount of enmity" towards them.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Pretty much anything I disliked about Zamasu was defused when he admitted he was being self-absorbed. -wink-
Super Perfect Zamasu, on the other hand, disgusted me to no end. Vegito's Dynamic Entry was well-deserved.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Plenty of villains are supposed to be unlikable as well. I mean, it's not like we're supposed to adore Frieza or anything....pretty sure he was intended to be disliked. But I have no issues with Frieza (except for the Ro F arc, but that was a combination of issues and not just because of Frieza).
You're kidding, Freeza's one of the most likeable villains...
He has his goals and...does them, it deserves deep respect...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The big thing is Zamasu is unique to Dragonball, he is the whiny edgelord and shows how that kind of thing does not work in Dragonball when the likes of Goku and Vegeta are around. He isn't played sympathetically at all to the point of a Take That!, he wishes he was sympathetic though which was funny.
Obito in Naruto was not unique in any way, there are 50 other whiny edgelords in it and is played straight and sympathetically.

He was different as far as Dragonball Villains go.
Most of them are either evil for incredibly petty reasons, or just because they are.
And in the face of that more simplistic evil, Edgelord Zamasu comes off as the douche he truly is.
Now, if only he'd learned to die when he is killed, instead of Diabolus-ing his way to fucking up everything.
One Strip! One Strip! It's funny, because he just ended up getting deleted....twice.
At least he was useful in showcasing the powers of Zeno and Beerus.
Also, it would've been nice to have known what the pink elephant was up to during this time. More interested in him (and his attendant) than Zamasu, and I don't even know his name, or what his personality will be like.
Of course, it's because he's a new elephant in the room.
New is better.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

I guess the problem was it took a bit too long to get to the joke. That, and Trunks still took Zamasu 100% seriously, even if it was to make a big "The Reason You Suck" Speech at the end.
But, like, the Vegetto stuff? Vegetto does not care at all about what Zamasu thinks. He just want to punch him because he's annoying.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!
