Except for when they are strong detrimental idiots.
Hell, Frieza was a idiot as well (his continued Revenge Before Reason got him fucked badly, and killed twice, all because he refused to accept that there was someone stronger than him), but he was so powerful it made little difference until Goku came along.

One Strip! One Strip!Thing is, in many instances, if they weren't 'detrimental', they would not have been strong enough to face whatever comes next.
The world of Dragon Ball is an Idiot Plot in the sense that if the characters weren't idiots, they'd be screwed, because what seems like the smart thing to do now would screw you later on in life.
Like, say, if Vegeta had killed Semi Perfect Cell, everyone would've been utlraboned against Buu.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariI mean, Gohan and Goku were already training in the time chamber, and, as you say, SS 1 Gohan was already stronger than Super Perfect Cell.
So.
They wouldn't have been screwed...because Gohand would've been significantly weaker and not have enough energy to power Boo.
Things take longer, but the correct answer is that they wouldn't have been able to beat Dabra.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm pretty sure that Goku being alive would mean that Gohan doesn't quit training entirely, which means he'd probably still be strong enough to defeat Dabura.
But it's not unbelievable that Goku and Vegeta would make it to that level after 7 years. The thing is, there'd be no fusion and no SSJ 3, so there's no one who can take Buu. The circumstances that led to Gohan's powerup are very unlikely to happen. It's possible, yeah, but it's also just as possible that Goku's the one who pulls out the Z sword instead.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariYeah. I thought the same. Since Goku isn't dead, Vegeta won't be so hellbent on fighting him while he has a chance that he does something as ridiculous as sell himself to Babidi.
Now, that's not to say that Babidi still trying to control him wouldn't happen, but it's far more likely that when he resists (which he could do) that he'd end up just wrecking Dabura before Buu even became an issue.
One Strip! One Strip!Neither of which are what actually stopped Buu, so what's your point?
I mean. Are they, though? Because Gohan and Shin getting their shit wrecked doesn't seem unlikely. Neither does Shin taking Gohan home because he likes Gohan more than the other idiots.
This is the exact same mentality that leads to people saying that every character who is not Goku is useless, you know.
My point is: No Fusion, No SSJ 3 = everyone dies. Yes, they didn't kill Buu, but without either of those, everyone dies.
Yes. Yes they are. Because it's not like the Supreme Kai chose out of the blue to just take Gohan to the Supreme Planet. Nor did he do it because he liked Gohan more than the rest. Events happened to go in just such a direction that made this the result.
Dragon Ball is an universe where a lot of seemingly small nails would cause very massive changes very quickly.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariI'm not so sure.
Isn't the reason that Gotenks lasted against Buu less his power (which might have been close to him) and more that Buu was purposely stalling because he knew Gohan was coming?
One Strip! One Strip! So again, yes, the eternal rival, and we're better off because of it. Rooting only for the main character with no options is just a boring perspective, their rivalry is what keeps fans excited. Is it getting old? Well is Goku's stupidity getting old? They balance each other out, and super is better than GT, among many things, because of how present Vegeta is.
I got this from from the comment section from this video but what do you guys think of the rivals Goku had?
"Mai waifu."![]()
>I got this from from the comment section
And there's your first problem. 9/10, they're already heavily biased towards Vegeta and will obviously make him out to be more important than he actually is.
I'm pretty sure that comment neglected the fact that the series went on just fine for years before Vegeta showed up, and his rivalry with Goku wasn't really important to the grand scheme of Dragon Ball until like the Buu saga.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.

Even Goku has a tendency to screw things up at the worst possible moment because he wants a good fight.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!
