Well, Trunks spent most of his time away from the Androids and their destruction. He wasn't constantly on the run or anything, even when he did start personally fighting against them.
Also, half-Saiyan, we've had conversations about how that might affect dealing with things like this.

Not if that fucker Zamasu has anything to say about it!
One Strip! One Strip!Okay, help me out, is Gohan 9 or 11 when he fought Cell? Because I've heard people say that "eleven" is a dub error and I'm pretty sure TFS made a joke about Goku insisting Gohan was eleven because he's stupid, but the math doesn't add up for Gohan to be 9.
My various fanfics.4 at the beginning of Z.
5 during Saiyans and on Namek.
6 when Freeza returns.
9 after three years of training (Android/Cell Saga).
10 if you count the subjective year in the time chamber.
I do recall that the original dub aged him up to five at the beginning of Z for some reason, which is probably where they got eleven years.

Here's how I looked at it.
He was four at the start of Z
By the time he got to Namek he was five (the Saiyans were a month early and it took a month to get to Namek)
There was a year and eight months between Freeza's defeat and Freeza's arrival on Earth. So he's six, but he should probably be seven.
Three years training: 9~10
Hypersonic boopado: 10~11
My various fanfics.Weird that the dub aged him 11, when I'm pretty sure they said he was 4 in introduction.
Also this means there was no year before Karrot came back, since that's the only reason the age 11 exist.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Considering "Nine" and "Eight" are both a single syllable...
Yes, yes it is a mistake.
And it still weirds me out that Nine is a single syllable, because I speak Spanish, and it reads as two syllables to me.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariSee, Eleven and Ten I get, 'cause 3 versus 1 syllable, but eight or nine doesn't make sense because it's the same amount of lip flaps, and the art and animation are not good enough where the difference of mouthing eight or nine would be noticeable enough that people would harp on, or even notice, it.
Spanish is a piece of shit language and it should die for the good of every other language in the world, and I hate it. Why does it have so many verbal timings? Fuck if I know!

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariI would assume it was because he was too young and people thought it would be too ludicrous. But then again, it's only one year older.
It might've been Toriyama himself who asked for the change because he thought it might help the story, we don't know, but it's fun to speculate any possible dumb reason might have been true.

Well, I'm fairly sure that people under Trunks' situation would not be anywhere near as well adjusted as he is, so I'm thinking it's fairly unrealistic on that side too.
