Like I said, it was a long time ago, but I do remember a lot of posts about Ash catching a Riolu, and people getting sick of it.

But maybe it would be better to ask someone who was actually on Serebii during that time, as I can't call myself the end all be all expert on it.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure something like that happened. This is the internet, and people can get pretty obnoxious when they like something. Likewise, people can get really obnoxious when they hate something as well, especially when the thing they hate is something other people like obnoxiously.

How many of us have come to hate a character entirely due to their fans?

You sometimes just don't hear about things for a while.

It honestly took me until Legend of Korra's first season finale to even know of the Zutara/Kataang wars.

When I watched Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z as a child, I had a vague idea of what filler was. But only a vague idea; I could barely tell where canon ended and filler began. There were a good number of anime-only stories and characters that I enjoyed just as much as the canon stuff, especially with Dragon Ball. That's why when I read the manga years later, it felt fundamentally incomplete, like sections of the story were cut out.

I was just wondering how common that sort of feeling is among fans.

Really?

I take it you weren't a big Avatar person then, cause I'm surprised someone who was in the fandom by Korra didn't know about that.

...But I think I've taken us far enough off topic.

Universe 7 Hit seems unlikely to me. One, who's left to hire him, and two, how is it possible he never showed up until now. I'm sure it must be original flavour Universe 6 Hit.

.....I did get the universe right right? I'm sure I got it this time.

I mean, Trunks isn't a Mary Sue; a Mary Sue wouldn't have everything they were trying to achieve during their own arc crash and burn right in their face, despite all the power they gained.

Found it! The only good example of the "fan of a work of fiction goes into the work of fiction and becomes the best because they're Genre Savvy about the story" cliche is Marie D Suesse And The Mystery New Pirate Age, and only because of how brutally deconstructive it is. The Yamcha spin-off is probably going to read like a bad, and totally genuine about it, fanfiction. Than again, I probably shouldn't be surprised, since that plot is almost exactly the plot of Dragon Ball Heroes.

I mean, I don't mind the Yamcha spin-off, because we might get more than just him being relevant. Plus, I want to see where this goes.

I know it seems Mary Sueish (kinda is) but I figure it's mostly gonna be a joke.

But if you took how skilled Yamcha really is, and knowledge of the future, he'd actually would fare pretty well at first. Though I'm not sure if training earlier with Roshi would actually help that much but I guess well see.

I suppose High School dudes plan is to just follow Goku and train with all the dudes he trains with much sooner then Yamcha did.

Regardless of what he does, since the story apparently reached the Saiyan Saga in its first chapter, there's nothing left for Yamcha to do. He has no way of overcoming the Saiyan barrier, let alone the Super Saiyan barrier.

I mean, there's Guru, high gravity training, Elder Kai, learning the Kaio-ken, just training with Goku in general, or hell, training with Whis and bullshiting his way to god ki like Vegeta and Trunks did.

I mean, we have no idea if the Earthlings, Namekians, or Majins are capable of gaining God Ki as well; in theory any race should be capable of gaining it, since it's just a higher form of the same energy that every creature in the universe has access to, and it can apparently just be gained through osmosis at this point.

It's interesting how it can appeal to both people who want Yamcha to succeed, and people who want Yamcha to fail.

Just look at the scene of Yamcha failing in the gravity chamber for another example. It was on our Crowning Moment Of Awesome page for Dragon Ball, not sure if it still is.

And when people here start acting like this has serious implications for stuff outside of this episode, that'll be appropriate to point out. Until then, it's unnecessary and kind of obnoxious

Keeping Yamcha fans down is JUSTICE

JUSTICE is never unnecessary
