Does Fused Zamasu (does he have a more official name or a fandom nickname yet?) remind anyone else of a fighting game final boss, or is it just me - both in terms of attacks, the way he's always proselytising, and his general appearance? He totally feels like he'd fit right in with SNK, and especially Arcsys.
In a sincerely unrelated note, I really like his design and wish - as the previews show - he didn't have some kind of monstery ascended form to shift into. It's interesting to have a Big Bad in a Dragonball story that looks like the protagonists and has such typically "good" imagery - it's eerie in a way that really sells his "deity of virtue gone horribly wrong" visage.

Even just watching TFS play the game, that's obviously not true. There are plenty of times where they'll attack the enemy you're fighting and oftentimes knock them out of your combo or knock them out of the way of your Super/Ultimate.
Really, you don't actually have AI allies, you just have AI enemies that can't hurt you directly.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!He reminds me more of a JRPG final boss. That genre tends to have villains with God complexes (sometimes you'll even see an angelic final form for villains that don't have such a complex).
It's actually surprising that this is the first time Dragon Ball is tackling that archetype. Not even GT or the movies came up with an angelic villain.
As a JRPG fan though I actually like it a lot as long as we do not get a "World of Cardboard" Speech by Vegito or Goku as Zamasu loses, it's a standard trope for this but it's too late for that it's kick ass time.

I never understood the point of the "World of Cardboard" Speech trope. Its main purpose is portraying a hero having a mental epiphany, breaking through the limits that they set upon themselves. Except the Trope Namer: Superman's "World of Cardboard" speech from Justice League Unlimited, has absolutely nothing to do with mental epiphanies or breaking through limits, and it is essentially just Superman telling Darkseid 'I always hold back, but I can go all out against you', which requires the trope to be broad enough to cover that example, which has made it undergo Trope Decay until it basically just translates into 'awesome speech by the hero, in any context whatsoever'.
I don't know about how well our trope page covers it, but Superman's point is a little more than just him holding back. It's specifically highlighting that his need to hold back is a bid disadvantage to him, revealing that he's a lot more capable than he usually appears right when it is needed most.
It also specifies that it can be a speech expositing what just happened after the final battle, a speech to the villain before fighting them about how much you're going to kick their ass, or just simply telling the villain to shut up apparently qualifies as a "World of Cardboard" Speech.

I see no reason why they couldn't. Matter creation is a well-established power in Dragon Ball, and Beerus states himself that he can outright erase energy and matter from existence, so outright creating energy and matter seems like the only logical way to counter that.
