Also, I always assumed the difference involved whether or not the hands were physically touching when they were cupped together in the charging pose, and whether or not the orb being formed a) physically touched the hands instead of floating between them, and b) if it pushed against the hands so much that they were physically pulled apart to make more room for it.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Because the ki is in their body.
Remember that thing about people freaking out over the ki in Tenshinhan's hands glowing before he finished charging his attack? Consistently, the Kamehameha does not have any sort of indicator when charging other than the pose.
Later, when they go the "Kamehameha Full Power" the aura gets more fierce when charging.
Just as an aside, while Tenshinhan wasn't naturally immune to the Kamehameha (it was a technique he did with his hands), he could stop it pretty easily. At the end of the match, he's totally spent, barely keeping himself airborne, and Goku threatens with a Kamehame: Tenshin just laughs at the notion until he gets headbutted (meaning, a headbutt borne of recoil was something he was too tired to block, but a Kamehame would be perfectly stoppable). Saiga's probably right in that the series' future escalation wasn't taken into account back then, but I like to think it'd work on Cell's Solar Kamehameha anyway, just because the notion would be silly as heck.
In fact, I don't think Tenshinhan was ever successfully hit by a Ki blast in the manga or anime. If true, there's a fun fact for ya.
So, the latest Super episode: Trunks' transformation was just a rage-induced power-up. Or at least that's what it seems like. I'm calling it the "Not my Fault!!" Super Saiyan
Good to see the main characters actually discuss things with the group, for a change. Dragon Ball is at its best when the family&friends are showing their support, and it was nice to see Gohan&Chichi learning of the situation, Piccolo giving a vital idea, and even Goten trying to help
Goku training under Kame Sennin brought a smile to my face. All this time, and he still has stuff to learn from him.
So, Beerus, Whis and Gowasu will investigate the time travel shenanigans. Good, the mere acknowledgement that something's fishy makes me glad. It's probably going to be what Known Unknown said (the original meeting between Goku&Zamasu was coincidental), but the show ought to address it, at least
Overall, a Breather Episode, but one with a lot of good stuff in it.
Despite being a god-like entity who has the power to nearly destroy the universe, Goku is still the cheery kid that wants to learn more under masters like Roshi from decades prior.
That was a fun episode indeed.
Trunks power up just comes out of nowhere. What is it, anyway?
Lots of good comedic moments this episode, kinda feels like a breather in this dark arc. My favorite was probably Vegeta face when he realizes even his own wife counts on Goku to save the day.
Goku going to learn Mafuba from Roshi brought a smile on my face.
Seems like next episode we get back to fighting, this arc moves fast.
They really should've explained it.
From what I could understand, Future Trunks seemed to have ascended to a near-god-like state through sheer anger. Since he didn't transform through tranquility like Goku or Vegeta did to reach SSJB, it seems that whatever form Trunks is in now is leaking god ki, as shown by his hair quickly turning from blue back to yellow during the power-up. Now that he has his irises back, he seems to be calming down bit by bit.
Still no name for it.

They don't really explain or address it, so...its really just a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment.
I did like how Gohan is slowly realizing how little people depend on him anymore.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well. There are a lot of things to say about this thread, but this one was the most important for me:
Hmmmm....
Wait.....
Well, y'all are free to call me a dick for making jokes about it (or about a lot of things really. I'm likely more of a jackass then I mean at times) but that is A Rare Sentence.
We may have to consider that Saiga has been assassinated so some nefarious doppleganger can take his place.
With that said, todays ep:
- Like most, I don't get what the deal with Trunks' new form is. He couldn't have already gotten a taste of God power. Vegeta had to spend months in Beerus' presence to do it.
- I really love Black and Zamasu teamwork. Like Vegeta said, they're so in synch it's scary. One's an immortal God with an indestructible body. The other is the same god with a body that grows stronger the more you hurt him. Together they Kill All Humans!
- Getting serious, I love that while they are powerful, that's not the sum total of their threat. Their respective physical conditions, their skill, and their ability to read each other so thoroughly is arguably a bigger problem then just the fact that they are strong.
- Gohan. Ask a question next time. You've missed a lot. Not that it matters. We can safely say that Toriyama likely has no plans to involve Gohan anyway, so while we can get this little scene of him having an Oh, Crap! moment, it won't amount to anything. At least he, Chi-chi and Goten are in the loop now.
As others have pointed out, Goku going back to his very first teacher to re-learn a classic DB technique is pretty cool. Although, they seem to be ignoring the caveat the the Mafuba kills whoever uses it, but maybe they'll just insist that was because the users were (compare to what came later) not that powerful. Or maybe it's because the ones being sealed were so strong, the users were force to use all their energies to imprison them and died. Whatever. Between the Zeno button and whatever Beerus, Whis and Gowasu are going to do, we have quite a few Chekovs Guns in play, and I'm just curious to see who'll succeed.
.......Well, lets tune in next week.
One Strip! One Strip!OW! I think I pulled an optical muscle rolling my eyes too hard!

Was that one at me? It's hard to tell sometimes.
Also, two funny things about this episode:
1) The chibi Black and Zamasu that came along with Bulma's explanation of what had been going on.
2) The sub I watched had Presented by Batman on them.
Never pegged Bruce as an anime fan.
It was indeed. Also, Batman presenting Dragon Ball Super was pretty great.
@Handsome Rob: Kami-sama believed he could seal Piccolo Jr. without killing himself, and Piccolo did do it to Kami without breaking much of a sweat.
So, it probably had more to do with Mutaito and Roshi being relatively weak

I appreciate the fact that Trunk's new transformation can't really just one-shot Black and Zamasu. It still keep the edge of the situation without making it useless.
Also, the animation of the next episode looks pretty good, the fighting between Trunks and Black sounds awesome.
I also kinda liked the scene where Vegeta steps up to Zamasu and is like "ur not helping him", I mean, he gets tag-teamed minutes afterward but it was still nice.

Nautolan picture belongs to Bonesmarinated on twitter

Wouldn't Toriyama have had a hand in any imagery in Battle of Gods though, since he was actually working on it at that point?
And isn't that an image of the final clash between Gohan and Cell?
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!
