It's not so rare if you don't think that TFS' Goku reflects the real one well.
Goku is not that dumb. He's uneducated, not a moron. I'd like to remind you, it was Goku who manipulated Buu into killing Babidi.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariYou say that as if TFS isn't infallible and doesn't do everything about the series better than Toriyama and anyone else related to it. That would just be crazy.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. To be fair, you can make an argument on which Goku is closer to the real one: English Dub Goku or DBZA Goku.
The former turned him into an hero that Goku never was and created parallels to Superman that weren't originally there (additional ones, I mean), while the latter made Goku infinitely more mean spirited (at the start) and dumber than the Japanese anime or manga.
I'd like to see that shitstorm.
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariTo be fair, the Japanese anime as well made Goku more heroic than Toriyama ever attended for him to be; in that since Super is actually the closest we've seen of that "true" personality, barring the movie versions of Battle of Gods and Resurrection F.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Not even close to all the main stays.

So that's another thing that's mostly only been in the movies making it to the main series.
Edit: Also, there's some dark humour in Goku calling out Zamasu for using his immortality to allow for a non-lethal Taking You with Me considering both ways he died.

One Strip! One Strip! So this is just the wiki article, but did the new episode confirm this is just Bad Future Zamasu? Meaning in the original timeline there was a version of Zamasu who never encountered Son Goku... except he had to have met him, and Vegeta too at some point.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I think his skills gave him an advantage...though he shouldn't be better than Karrot. He was also fighting with his sword...much better than before.

So it seems Goku's had a epiphany about who Black is and what his deal is with Zamasu.
Rare non fighting moment of holding the Smart Ball for him.
I do wonder what Zamasu wished for however: I guess Toriyama's big subversion is coming up soon enough. We'll see if what he did is what he really wanted or not.
One Strip! One Strip!
