Ehehehe... yeah. I ended up being away from home for longer than I thought, without my manga volumes with me. I'm actually typing up two posts for it now, the first is another note before I start, and the second is the volume 1 review itself.
Wow, nearly turned 1 day into 1 week. Anime Freeza would be proud.
If Kenshin's version of Japan can have guys punch apart trees with their bare fists and survive knives being thrown at their heads just because their skin is that tough, it can have a woman with decent combat abilities.
A badass female fighter be easier to believe than Cannibal Social Darwinist Mummy or a three stories tall giant. (not sure if he was exactly three stories tall but Fuji was kinda....yeah, totally not possible)
Misao is the only respectable female in that series.

...A person can be genius and dumb at the same time...the qualities of greed, arrogance, forgetfulness, and clumsyness can all cancel out genius cred, or just summing the last two up as Ditzy.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Booksmart and peoplestupid.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.@Nikkolas: Kenshin is historical fiction, and the setting must be established cultural-wise before you start bending the suspension of disbelief. If you just make everyone act like modern day, there's no point in it. And once again, characters don't have to fight to be respectable. But this is off topic..

You know, I've never minded Chichi's freakouts, given that they all involve her insane husband's wacky putting-their-son-in-mortal-danger antics. Even if the fate of the world is at stake, it's gotta be kind of hard to handle seeing your young child go out to fight a life-or-death battle, being able to do nothing to help him, and seeing his father treat it as a game.
It's only when she gets upset over trivial things that she bothered me. I never minded her freaking out over the fact that Gohan was missing for a year, and when she didn't want him to go to Namek (I think she had good reasons to not let him go). I honestly dislike when characters are villainized for showing realistic emotions in traumatizing situations. Not to mention, most of her obnoxious moments are only in the anime at least.
I just get annoyed when fans single her out and make her looks like an evil person compared to the other females.
I actually like Goku a lot, but I dislike how he always tries to seek a good fight when the world is at stake (like allowing Frieza to transform, giving Cell a Senzu Bean, etc).

Well, he can't really help that.
The Saiyan's love of a good fight tends to trump everything.
One Strip! One Strip!
That might be a factor as well.
Though maybe we shouldn't make such casual jokes about that.

One Strip! One Strip!Movies and supplemental stuff
are largely fanservice. 90 minutes of Goku fighting the villains has been done for a bunch of movies. I want Future Trunks back only because I like him. Entirely shallow reasons, but these are entirely shallow affairs.
No no. I mean the whole Goku has brain-damage thing. Yes, it's kinda true, but I can't help but wonder if it's in poor taste.
Though Goku has one of the best reasons to be an Idiot Hero ever.
One Strip! One Strip!

...you know, there's a reason the Genius Ditz trope exists.
Oh, and also: Saiga, were you still doing that Dragon Ball review? I ask because you said you'd have the first part posted "tomorrow", but that was four days ago...
Also, Bojack WAS technically Trunks' fault, because Trunks intervention lead to the Cell Games.
