I don't know. It's pretty fun to watch Vegeta suffer.

Eh, he's done enough suffering at this point; he's a legitimate family man now who values his family even more than Goku does, seems to be getting his own Uub in Cabba, and has put his horrid past to rest. The guy is also technically in his early 50s by now, so I really don't feel comfortable seeing an old man being beaten half to death again.

Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!

Age is not but a number in regards to Saiyans...

Pretty much.

It's hard to say if Vegeta has suffered enough.

He's killed a lot of people, and as some have pointed out, he was pretty evil (maybe more evil than most Saiyans, likely due to the in-universe reason of being so close to Frieza, and the meta reason of Toriyama making him really evil cause he was supposed to be the big villain).

On the other hand, he lost his people, his father, was force to serve the one responsible for it, utterly failed to take revenge on the dude when he thought he was strong enough to do so, watched as someone else achieve the ultimate power he sought, achieved that ultimate power after nearly killing himself, then was promptly beaten by a street punk, shattering his pride to bits, got even stronger then that, and then got rekt again (and all due to his own ego), watched as the son of the guy who surpassed him then promptly surpassed both of then, then watched that guy die, without getting a chance to settle things, spent seven years mellowing despite himself, got a chance to fight the dude who ass he wanted to kick, only for other shit to get in the way, became evil again, except not really, died again, and this time was told he'd go to hell, came back again, fused with the annoying dude, finally put that shit behind him, got beat up by a god, became a god, then got another shot at the asshole who destroyed his people, and botched it, only to have to be saved by the annoying dude...

...wow. This is too fucking long. You get my point. I mean, you could say that Vegeta is still paying off his karma for his time with frieza, but you could also say he's been through enough, especially after the dragon said he was no longer evil.

I'd say there's evidence for both sides.

....Y'all are free to beat me to a pulp if I ever write a post that big again. I'm willing to accept it.

One Strip! One Strip!

Veggie and Carrot can be the butt monkey bros.

I think it should be shared Saiyan suffering.

I think "genocidal planet-busting madman" is something that's pretty impossible to ever atone for and climb out of the red.

They didn't quite blow up planets but FMA for one had a number of genocide participants who at least tried to redeem themselves, so it's not narratively impossible...

Well, they could wish back the planets and people that Vegeta blew up. Seems like that would make things better wouldn't it?

[up][up][up]Well it is indeed too late, as was just stated. Also it wouldn't matter if Vegetarian himself wasn't the one to do it.

This is like a true test of character growth, because no one really cares about those other planets and their life forms.

Even if they can't be wished back anymore, death and the subsequent afterlife is a pretty sweet deal in Dragonball and practically superior to being alive, so yeah, mass-murdering isn't quite as atrocious as it is in real life, but it's still not something you can really just forgive and forget.

Also there's the whole 'he enjoyed and doesn't really regret it'. I mean, sure, he's not going to go on a mad rampage using his godlike power to destroy the entire universe or something, but I don't think he's ever expressed true regret for the actions that hurt people he doesn't care about.

I mean, I think his self destruction against Buu was meant to be a moment in which he comes to terms with his actions, realizes that they are wrong, and tries to make up for them by paying the ultimate price (and his afterlife would be literally hell), but he never really expresses regret for all the likely billions of people he's killed in his life.

Amusingly, since by the time of Super they've just sort of gone "fuck it" with the Dragonballs' provisos about resurrection (Freeza was more than a year dead by a large margin, and that was iirc the last restriction to remained unbroken), they could probably just assemble the Dragonballs and wish back everyone Vegeta ever killed and also King Kai.

Joking aside, I expect the Future Trunks / Black Goku saga to end with something like that - with them heading to New Namek to use the Dragonballs and wish Earth back to pristine or something.

I also hope we get a villain whose main gimmick is the ability is to make people Deader than Dead (that is, if it doesn't turn out that Black already has that gimmick), to put a little tension level back into these confrontations.

Apparently, the one year restriction was only on mass resurrections with Shenron. He could bring back a single person whenever so long as they didn't die naturally.

It's an odd restriction, but ya gotta have some kind of rules in place...anything to make them not break any and all suspense.

It's also convenient, avoids over population.

At the same time, by this point, basically everyone on Earth has been brought back by the Dragon Balls at least once so the mass revivals should really start losing their effectiveness.
