The better part of a decade has passed between the Cell Saga and them showing up as kids. They wouldn't have shown up as kids if they'd made the wish then. They'd be around Gohan's age.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Recent wish it is. The earliest it could've been was during the later half of 7 year gap.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Assuming that the trio is around Trunks and Goten's age, it would make sense for the wish to be during that 7-year gap, but that's for the main timeline trio.
Considering that during that same time period in FT's timeline the dragonballs have been long gone, the only way I see the trio reverting their age is probably through either an experiment gone wrong or an invention of Bulma's.
Another theory is that they made their wish RIGHT before Piccolo got killed off by the Androids, which, by correlation of the 2 timelines, should be between the 7-year gap and the Buu Saga, since Future Trunks was 14 during History of Trunks and Present Trunks is 13 right now.

If they made their wish earlier in bad future, then it would be during 3 year gap.
Then add 17+ years on them.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm seeing any of the following as more plausible than the wish being made before the Androids awoke.
- This is Future Mai and she just looks good for her age.
- This is Regular Timeline Mai and she's just grown up a bit.
- This is Time Patrol Mai and they plucked her from a different spot in the timeline.
- Mai and Black Goku are from a separate timeline entirely.
Because it's iconic. Even though Android 18 broke it and it was never seen again in the main story, fans love the sword and have clung to it as a fundamental piece of Future Trunks's aesthetic.
Fortunately, as an anime character, Trunks's sword benefits from the fact that a weapon is considered an extension of the self in Japanese culture. His sword is as powerful as he is. It cut through Frieza because Trunks was more powerful, but failed against 18 because he wasn't. It was not the sword, but Trunks who shattered on 18's arm.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariEven if it is, even Toriyama is using it as an excuse. Like, there was that recent interview when he said that when he was writing the Great Saiyaman portions, he realised Gohan would rather study than fight. If that's true, it's been a part of his character for years now, and it was definitely intentional.
And I've got to admit, if that whole idea of his unwillingness to fight was never going to be brought up after the Cell Saga, his character would have become really boring to me. What would make him stand out from Goku? Just that he's not as much of a Blood Knight?
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Hmm. Considering Toriyama's by the seat of his pants style writing, it does make sense that Gohan's reluctance to fight is something that he realized later.
I still don't think he needed to toss Gohan under the bus. Have him recognize he needs to fight, even if he dislikes it. It would have been a great way to differentiate him from Goku. Once fight because he enjoys it, and the other because it's something that just has to be done sometimes.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Sure. I have no problem with that. It's just that...
It must be really frustrating for people who liked Main Character Gohan, and got invested in him, only for Toriyama to decide he didn't want to do that because he liked Goku better. I'm glad he figured out what he wanted, but this was really something he should have realized sooner, rather than right in the middle of the arc.
Don't know.
