Time to catch up with Super.

I love how Goku is also kinda bored with him and Vegeta doing everything and want to see other strong people.

Ok. I watched the episode.

Dragonball as a whole is a bit of a mixed bag for me lately. This episode epitomizes that.

Hit's Time freeze ability is pretty cool since it's basically Guldo's power but shorter, but Hit doesn't suck as much as Guuldo did, so despite having much less time, he can use it to its full capability.

If my understanding of what Goku did is correct, he's basically predicting where hit is gonna strike him ahead of time, and blocking that spot, and since he knows Hit will go for a vital point, he just guards there. Not sure if that should work, but maybe I'm still missing some points.

Stuff like this is where Super (and Dragon Ball as a whole) shines really, but I'm still irked about the Monaka thing. That being said, I'm still kinda hoping for another twist. I probably shouldn't, but maybe there's still more to him than we thought.

Yea, its a case of Tropes Are Not Bad. As much as I'd like for some other characters beside Goku & Vegeta to do things, I can't say this Tournament Arc has been terrible. All of the U6 fighters with the exception of Frost have been pretty entertaining and gave the two good fights, even if they were holding back until they had to fight Hit.

We still have the person who's gonna face Champa. I think it's either gonna be Monaka (he may be weak, but he must have beaten Beerus somehow) or Time Patrol Trunks (If the Galactic King won't do anything about Hit, I'm sure he'll do something). Maybe Gohan for a 3rd option, but he's still in Universe 7.

Is there a particular reason Some of you still believe that Monaka actually did challenge Beerus and that wasn't just a lie?

Monaka could be like Momon from Zatch Bell, who managed nearly beat two much-physically-stronger opponents at once with nothing but support and evasion spells, only losing because one of them cheapshotted his book.

The fact that Monaka tanked Goku's punch. Even Krillin flew a good 10 miles from one of those, and he's the strongest non-cyborg human.

Watching Kai last night made me think Krillin is the smartest guy in the show. He's the only person who questioned the Androids' motives and tried to defuse the fight since Gero was gone.

I wonder whether 18 and 17 were truly sociopathic of their own free will or if they weren't as free as they and Gero thought, and wanted to hunt and kill Goku because that was still an underlying program of theirs. He makes the point that they do have no reason to fight and it does eventually work, although it took 17 being absorbed and 18 knowing she was next to stop trying to kill them.

[up][up] That's also Goku holding back, its not like he hit him while transformed in SSJB, or even SSJ.

[up]Isn't this also a Manga vs Anime thing? I don't remember Goku punching Manoka in the anime.

It only happened in the anime, and the manga version was just a side-doodle for the Volume 1 book.

Wasn't Goku holding back when he punched Krillin too, since he was in his base state when he did that too?

I don't mind what's been going on with Goku and Vegeta getting screentime. At the very least Piccolo did fare well against Frost with strategy and was about to win that fight.

I just wish Buu got a chance to fight more than anything else.

I notice this trend in Shonen manga where there are generally three competent and important characters; The Hero, and the next two characters closest to him in strength. Usually one of them is closer to the hero in terms of strength to give an illusion of being equals, while the third guy is usually subject to The Worf Effect.

But Goku and Vegeta were laughing at Golden Freeza for apparently having the same exact issue they did with Super Saiyan Blue the entire time, which implied to me at the time of watching Resurrection of Freeza that they had good control over the form and that it was an efficient transformation. If Stamina draining to this degree was always unavoidable then it's not really worth mentioning to the audience anymore, we get the point by now.

It could still be more efficient than Super Saiyan 3 and/or the 100% and Golden Frieza forms. The Universe tournament is a marathon event. They were expected to fight multiple foes sequentially. Even if the drain is only as severe as, say, Super Saiyan 1 without the Full Power training, they would still have to worry about the quantity of foes outlasting the form's capabilities.

I mean, sure, winning one or two fights before exhausting their ki would be fine in a normal tournament setting, but a) despite ostensibly being allowed five teammates, this tournament really was just Goku and Vegeta versus everyone, and b) neither Goku nor Vegeta would be too happy with that kind of strategy anyway. If he had his way, Goku would fight everyone.

So, for Goku, the idea that he might burn out on ki around the fourth or fifth fight would be reason enough to use it sparingly, even if that would still be a fantastic showing by tournament standards. All the same holds true for Vegeta as well.

You know, I'm not sure that Piccolo had to resort to the Makankosappo right off the bat.

He was effortlessly dodging and parrying every single thing that Frost threw at him and was only hit because he let himself get hit.

But whatever, I guess we can't really have Piccolo win in a fight, now can we?

what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else

Honestly, I don't know why you guys are complaining. Piccolo doing as well as he did was more shilling for his character than he was really due.

Well...I heard somewhere that the reason that Piccolo was in the Special Beam Cannon stance the entire time, was because Toei wanted to save on animation costs by not having to animate Piccolo's whole face or something. Granted, that was one person's thoughts on the matter, so take it with a grain of salt; do note that the manga didn't have Piccolo go that route at all, and just had him fight normally except for him actually making use of his extending arms.

Wasn't Piccolo overall implied to be stronger than Frost in the manga? Didn't even need strategy or anything?
