Stories exist in their own universe to the extent that they are fictional, thus their events never really take place in the universe as we know it and the author(s) are the figurative god(s).
I'm guess thanks to language being what it is(you don't have to know what every word fully entails to speak it), when authors ended up with more than one fictional universe but then tried Canon Welding they ended up with "multiverses" even though the moment two things are shown to coexist the universes are no longer separate, they just prove bigger than previously thought.(again, Dragon Ball wasn't the first to do it, I think it was DC Comics when they did a crossover between the golden and silver age Flashes, or maybe it was Tenchi when the franchise went crazy with metaphysics? What's most important is that Saint Seiya has gone there, opening the door for Dragon Ball to follow.)

Buldogue's lawyerIncorrect. Whis said that there are 12 Universes. All of the Universes have a Mirror Universe that are similar to it. Which ones are Mirrors have Numbers that add up to 13. For example 1 and 12 are mirrors, 2 and 11, 3 and 10 and so on.
There is no 13th universe.

That and you're getting into the scientific definition versus the layman's definition. I don't think either one is more correct than the other in this situation.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!@Lionheart: Yes. It's pretty awesome.
There is no 13th universe. You're probably watching the shitty fansubs. There's a group 'Dragon Team' that are the most reliable, but they sometimes take a while to get their subs out.
Anyway, yeah, Super was good. Pretty much the same as the manga chapter, but it was fun.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!

So, according to Whis, there's a 13th Universe that the other 12 reside in. I don't believe that was in the manga.
