Respectful shrug.
Goku and Gohan are bad role models.
Disagree. Goku was my role model. Strong, carefree, good-willed, adventurous. I wanted to dress up as him for Halloween. I played a crapload of violent games when I was a kid on top of watching DB/DBZ, and I understood quite well that what Goku and Vegeta could do was physically impossible. No desire to fight wild bears or KO giant fish at all.
Dragonball was my anti-drug. Take that grade school soccer team and choir.

Fine, be that way. -_-
Yeah, he got stupid around the Buu Saga, but where can you find a more heroic, kind-hearted Japanese manga/anime hero who doesn't believe himself to be larger than life?
The article rounded Goku and Gohan together apparently because both father and son use violence to solve their problems. Might have been avoided if Gohan had beaten Cell with words instead of the sadistic Super Saiyan 2 beatdown.

Yeah, rules about parenting and problem solving kinda go out the window when you're dealing with alien tyrants, insectoid science experiments, and infinitely regenerating bubblegum monsters all of whom can blow up planets with the raise of an eyebrow.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Dragon Ball, if it has any good things to teach, they would be hard work and the possibility to push past your limits. I always liked that.
Come battle of the gods and hard work is not good enough and you will never surpass your limits even though the cat god has, without hard work.
Hell, that may be a more realistic message but damn its not something I would put in a cartoon for kids. At least with the former they may be inspired to make Achievements in Ignorance.

"Technically beat Goku the very first time."
That is a bold faced lie. He ran away while Goku was still standing. The match was undecided, although I guess you could see him fleeing as running away.
And he didn't do well against the Mummy at all. He almost beat him by knocking him off the ledge, but aside from that he was getting curbstomped. But he lost anyway so I don't see how that changes my point...?
Aaaand I don't know why you thought pointing out that Kuririn has done better than Yamcha would help your case? Also, Satan has died less than Yamcha. So has Videl, and Bulma, and Chichi, and Puar, Oolong... guess they're all better than Yamcha!
