There's actually a fanfic where Frieza won, and the story picks up centuries later with Frieza bed-ridden and dying, reciting his adventures to a recorder. It was pretty interesting actually, as long as you swallowed the idea of Frieza beating Goku on Namek.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!If Frieza won, I would imagine he'd spend the remaining years of his life scouring the universe for more Dragon Balls or something else like them. Now that he knows that this kind of magic is a real thing that can exist - that immortality is an attainable goal - he'd do anything for it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That reminds me of a fan fic where Broly comes to Earth to kill Kakarot but becomes Kakarot's best friend when Kakarot gets hungry, takes a break to eat and offers Broly popcorn.
Broly is then laid out by a mystery assailant or something along those lines Kakarot tracks him down, they fight, Broly comes in angry for revenge, the figure is cornered but Kakarot wants to interrogate him before Broly can kill him. The man is revealed to look just like Goku, only with scars and a tail, doesn't know where he is and just wanted to fight something.
Dr. Gero then sends android 13 to kill Goku, easily beating him and his two new friends until Goku uses the Kaiken, Broly powers up and gets buff and the mysterious man, revealed to be a somehow still alive Bardock who was testing his son, uses a false moon to become a werewolf monkey. Android 13 is taken aback by their sudden spikes in power level but manages to trick Broly into hitting Kakarot and then punches out giant Bardock. A golden aura overtakes Kakarot though and Android 13 is beaten stupid, only escaping because Kakarot can't sense his energy. Bardock asks if his son became a super saiyan(apparently he didn't find anything odd about Broly)
Somehow or another they find an old Red Ribbon base Gero is operating out of. Gero tries to drain Goku's energy but he turns super saiyan and smashes the beads on his hands. Bardock seems to be getting beat by android 14 (or 15, whoever was the short purple one) but destroys him with a technique called "riot javelin", Broly crushes android 15(or 14, whoever was the tall one).
All the androids but thirteen are dealt with but 13. 13 become huge and blue. Broly powers up, gets buff, and gets mauled. Not even super saiyan Goku can beat blue 13 but the tide turns when Broly turns out to still be alive and blindsides him with a blaster shell. 13 tries to destroy the Earth but Goku breaks through his attack with a Kamehameha that also destroys 13. Kakarot sighs in relief, then dies.
The next saga involved Bardock and Broly preparing for an another man who turned super saiyan at the same time Kakarot did but was evil. Kind of wish I had finished that fic now.
Buldogue's lawyerSo here's a neat idea for a story!
A world where Goku was raised by Shen
And Tenshinhan was raised by Son Gohan and went on Goku's adventures.
My various fanfics. It's not exactly the worst idea. I've seen Gohan get snatched up by a variety of intimidating, muscular space men, but Goku? Having him taken away by Raditz is, well, something that could've happened.
And it's not the sort of cliche exclusive to Dragonball fanfiction either, that's just typical What If? centered around the main protagonist.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Back when the Budokai and Tenkaichi games were new, I would do a thing where I'd have the Random Character Select set up matches and then come up with excuses for why the characters were fighting. This resulted in a long-winded narrative where time cracked and Kaioshin assembled a team of warriors from various time periods in response to all the villains emerging at once.
So, like, Frieza and Cell were leading the Planet Trade Organization in attempts to conquer and/or destroy Earth, and Pure Buu was roaming around destroying things for no reason, and only Bardock, Android 17, and Videl - who was grabbed accidentally when Kaioshin was aiming for Gohan - could stop it.
Broly was Bardock's rival because he blamed Bardock for the existence of Kakarot. He also became god-king of a planet of aliens who he inadvertently saved from Majin Buu. He was going to blow them up but then they all started worshipping him as a god and he was like, "Okay, this is pretty cool." He wound up burying the hatchet with Bardock when they have to work together to save his followers from an army of Meta-Coolers, because he'd grown fond of being worshipped. He parted ways with Bardock afterwards, telling him, "We are not friends, Father of Kakarot, but we are not enemies either."
I'm surprised I actually remember as much of it as I do. That was, what, ten years ago? But it was exactly the kind of canon-breaking wackiness one can expect of a story written through Random Character Select.
EDIT: I might have that backwards. It might have been the Meta-Coolers that Broly saved the planet from, and Buu that he worked with Bardock against. Either I misremembered or my brain is desperately trying to auto-correct due to the power level discrepancy, which is an exercise in futility for a story written in Random Character Select.

That's the joke.
...
I'm kind of tempted to read that one fic where Freeza becomes a good guy. The one with a tropes page.
The one that's less angsty than the other one. "Fall of the Tyrant Freeza" or whatever.
