Who said anything about him replicating it? My point was that it's possible that he was stronger than with Gohan Absorbed in that form. Tobias gave a reason that might not be the case but still.

It seemed like he was temporarily reverting to Buff Buu on his way back to Kid Buu.

I'm pretty sure Buff Buu was probably that strong all the time after absorbing South Supreme Kai.

I adore the detail that absorbing Grand Supreme Kai made Buu weaker.

I'm not saying I want Madhouse or any other studio I may have named to do Dragon Ball because of the animation quality, Lolypop. I want some animation studio other than TOEI to do Dragon Ball because I think they've had their 2 strikes and haven't managed anything better than a few foul balls to keep them at the plate. You Son Goku And His Friends Return(which still had a very slow start), Dragon Ball Z Battle Of Gods and Revival Of F show they can make passable to good Dragon Ball one shots but every episodic television show they've done has been needlessly glaciated at best. I've read lectures on how Japanese tv works and give credit that their first attempt at Dragon Ball didn't really start sucking till Namek, so I've come to appreciate TOEI to an extent, strike count drops from three to two.

And you know what else? I was wrong. The more ridiculous looking usually are the most dangerous. I was wrong for describing power as if it were synonymous with danger. I hope I am ultimately proven wrong about Super too, that it proves to be another slow start that ends up Growing the Beard once it runs out of material to rehash but we won't know until 2016. Till then all we have is the wasted opportunity that was nearly half of 2015.

Super Buu said he was the strongest Majin to ever exist after absorbing Gotenks, said that he was even stronger after absorbing Gohan, and Goku could barely notice Buff Buu's power increasing in relation to Super Buu's. So he's not the strongest. He's just South Kaioshin (SS-3 Goku tier guy) + Kid Buu (SS-3 Goku tier guy). Which puts him somewhat above Super Buu, who is Pure Buu (on par with SS-3 Goku) + Mr. Buu (somewhat below SS-3 Goku) but below Buutenks, who is Super Buu (way above SS-3 Goku) + SS 3 Gotenks (way above SS-3 Goku).

[up]How do you know Goku "could barely notice" it? I've got nothing to say about anything else you said because that's fine but I don't remember that bit.

He had to ask Vegeta for confirmation that Buff Buu's ki was getting bigger. His exact line was "H-hey… Vegeta… His ki is increasing, ain’t it…?".

I think the advantage Super Buu has is that he's smart.

Kid Buu and Buff Buu were unpredictable, but they were also kinda dumb.

Fat Buu was predictable and a little dumb.

[up] ...To me that doesn't sound like he can't notice it.

To me that sounds like he notices it and is freaking out a little about it and doesn't want to believe it.

Like he's in denial.

He's worried that they might have made a terrible mistake.

The advantage Super Buu has is that he's both smart and much stronger.

Super Buu was pretty dim-witted too until he absorbed Piccolo.

Sure, he was smart enough to use absorption when backed into a corner, but even Pure Buu could think of that.

[up][up][up][up]What unnoun said. That's doesn't look like Goku asking because the difference is so small he can't tell, it's him asking because he hopes he's wrong.

I have no problem with Buff Buu not being the strongest, because that doesn't really work to me either, I was just pointing out one line.

Than Kid Buu.

Without any of the other absorptions, Buff Buu is stronger.

Like, Super Buu is uneducated and thuggish, but he's actually smart enough to plan out absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo from fairly early on.

And he was able to calculate how long an hour was by measuring the falling speed of grains of sand. Work out how many grains of sand there were based on the volume of the hourglass.

So Super Buu can do high level math pretty quickly.

Pure Buu was smart enough to absorb South Kaioshin. That's not really an exceptional feat for Super Buu.

Can he do high level math?

...That goes for Kid Buu and South Kaioshin.

And I got the distinct impression that Super Buu was planning Gotenks's absorption from the moment he became Super Buu.

He works out how many humans are on Earth when he does the Human Extinction Attack.

Piccolo asks him to kill all the humans so he kills all the humans.

Like, Super Buu's intelligence is a very brutish sort of intelligence, but it is, in fact, a form of intelligence.

We don't know how that happened. He could have been having a How Do I Shot Web? moment. He might not have even needed to do it.

I also think the "Pure Boo is more dangerous" thing is totally Informed Ability. He ended up being defeated by the weaker fighters who took the stupidest steps possible to reach that result. The only thing he had going for him was destroying Earth out of nowhere, but he then never tries something like that again.

Evil Boo also made an attempt to destroy Earth out of nowhere, the only difference was that he could be interrupted because Goku arrived out of nowhere. So Pure Boo's one dangerous moment is more a product of circumstance than anything else.

[up] And he learned how to measure an hour extremely quick from Piccolo's hourglass.

Super Buu is impatient, immature, crude, thuggish and arrogant, but even before absorbing Piccolo he's a lot smarter than he looks, and a lot smarter than any of the other forms of Buu.

Which is admittedly faint praise.

But throughout the Super Buu arc characters underestimate him because they think he's dumb, and he ends up getting the better of them. Until Vegetto, anyway.

It's why Gotenks re-fused for him to absorb.

...Like, Piccolo tricked him with the Time Chamber, and he got lucky with Vice Shout, but. Aside from that.

Piccolo's attempt to buy time by using the human race as a sacrificial lamb backfired big-time.

Like, the Human Extinction Attack was a very direct way to go about it, but it was horrifically effective. It only took two minutes.

I will now speak the most dangerous words that have ever been spoken on Tv Tropes:

I was just thinking of something.tongue

Little self depreciation there. Anyways, all this talk about Buu and South Supreme Kai got me thinking:

With the exception of South, it's believed Kid / Pure Buu was stronger than all the Kais. Except we don't really know that. We know he killed North and West Supreme Kai, and absorbed South and Grand Supreme Kai, and that East was the weakest, but we're not totally sure what the power of the other two were.

I thinking back on SS 3 Goku's fight with Buu. Now it's true that SS 3 is a shit technique that drains too much energy for a protracted struggle, but Buu showed zero signs of being tired after fighting such a powerful enemy.

I don't think Kid Buu can even get tired in fact. He seems to have unlimited stamina. So it dawns on me that Kid Buu didn't so much out power the two Kais that he killed so much as he outlasted them. They exhausted themselves fighting him and got steamrolled.

Well, I mean, from what we saw of Fat Buu, he didn't get tired either, until he fought a superior opponent.

...Actually, you made me realize that. If absorption is an instinctive reflex in response to danger for Buu, like Kibito Kai says, that means Kid Buu evidently considered South Supreme Kai and Grand Supreme Kai more threatening than Super Saiyan 3 Goku.

Which isn't a statement about power levels, but. Evidently Super Saiyan 3 Goku was just not that impressive.

Kibitoshin never says that.

[up][up][up] Why would you say that? Just because he has unlimited stamina doesn't mean that's why he beat them. He very well would have just slaughtered them. We didn't see the fight, unless we go by filler, where he absolutely just straight up killed them.

[up][up]

Well, yeah, that's more or less where I got the idea from.

Hell, even in the filler, it's notable that we really only see the final moments of the battles, where West is already pretty beat up, and North seems like he's on his last legs as well. I mean, yes, he probably stomped them quickly, but it's also possibly he wore them down.

South's power might not just stem from his actual Ki level, but his stamina as well. Could he have outlasted Buu? Don't know, but he might have lasted long enough to figure out how to full destroy him. Buu realized this, and absorbed him. Or maybe the battle just lasted long enough for Buu to decide to absorb him.

This is all just theory of course. But I like it.

And yeah, it's likely that he didn't try and absorb Goku because he recognized Goku wouldn't be a long lasting threat.

Or because Toriyama had Buu forget about absorbing. Either way.

So, Buff Buu is stronger than Super Buu but with none of the intelligence or skill. Buuccolo is barely stronger than Super Buu and with much more intelligence and skill. Buff Buu vs Buuccolo?

Guy01 Since: Mar, 2015

[up]Well, Buuccolo would have the techniques of Goten, Trunks and Piccolo to use. Hellzone Grenade might be good to use here. Presumably he would have the moves of Gotenks as well if he remembered them. I know Buuhan used Ghost Kamikaze, but I think that might've been just in the Anime.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?

Pretty much yeah.

Technique is only worthwhile if you have enough power to actually do something to the other guy.

Again, Piccolo was 3500 to Nappa's 4000, and the former got stomped as badly as everyone else did.
