Android 18 being stronger than Mecha-Frieza is easy; Gero really was the smartest roboticist of his time, beyond even Frieza's best scientists. He was able to make a mere human stronger than even a cybernetically-enhanced tyrant of the universe.
Heck, Gero probably could have taken on Frieza himself.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I don't see any problem with the Androids being stronger than Freeza. The problem I have is how Freeza is so damn strong with an unsatisfactory explanation. He owes his strength due to being a mutant... but he's exactly 1,000 times stronger than Captain Ginyu, who is also a mutant (as is the rest of the Ginyu Force - well, maybe not Guldo).
I can't actually watch that video, though (dunno why) so I don't know what it says.

He doesn't really have a race, though. It's basically his family.
So maybe it's just Conservation of Ninjutsu or something. Still, it wouldn't have hurt anything for Toriyama to show a little restraint with his power level.

Nope, Japanese
DBZ is the worst DBZ. Funimation beats Ocean handily.
Wow.
I am without words.
I liked Perfect Cell for being such a troll, and that voice... that voice was perfect. Didn't care much for Semi and Imperfect.
I tried
watching Dragonball Evolution, but I never got past the first 10 minutes. I just couldn't stand it. I used to think making a good DBZ live action movie would be impossible, but then I saw the action scenes in Man of Steel.
Buu, Cell, Ginyu and Radiz were not defeated because of higher power levels, though only the characters with high levels were of any significance then. Anime Freeza 100% was obviously stronger than SS Goku too but lost to fatigue (comic Freeza was clearly inferior but he's obviously bashing the show)
Vegeta was not about "honor" he was about Pride. Really, I thought his character was just fine. It was the story trying to treat him like a hero that always bugged me. Also, there is no such thing as dragon ball Z, it is just an illusion created by TOEI Animation. In reality there is only dragon ball. No there was never any grand tour, just some cool concepts Akira never got around to implementing because he did not feel like doing anymore Dragon Ball for shonen jump.
But yes, the android thing can be explained, they were the result of decades worth of work for the sole purpose of beating Goku, Freeza was a quick patch job to save a dying man. The blow up a planet issue was explained when Vegeta final flashed Cell, Trunks was worried about it being too much energy but then realized Vegeta could focus it to a relatively small area to minimize damage. (Though one wonder how Trunks lasted against the androids if he was such poor understanding of his own power).
The saiyan DNA thing is not using actual genetics, rather it is the argument that the genetics undergo some kind of change when the character "transforms", and that (since man is always replacing old sperm with new ones) future children would get that change the old ones did not...yeah its a silly but 'plausible', should of just stuck with the baby and been done with it.
As for it all being Goku's fault, yes it is, but Trunks mentioned Goku's died before the androids came do to a virus and that his medicine was supposed to prevent that. The idea of not invading Gero's lab prior was that he did no wrong. So, save Goku from disease, send him to the spot the androids first appear at, beat them, problem solved. The fact that Trunks was also a Super Saiyan was irrelevant because Trunks was vastly inferior to Goku. The idea of Goku beating the androids was just fine but then the medicine did not work, which was just Diabolus ex Machina.
With that in mind it would be a good "what if" I suppose. "What if" they had searched out Gero early? His only Android would have been 16, 16 would have killed Goku (and Vegeta because I don't like Vegeta). The final battle of the series becomes Piccolo and 16 vs Cell, no one ever releases enough energy to attract Babadi to Earth... but he comes anyway, Daburam is with him, The Bad Guy Wins. Better than the "what if" Bardock got I think.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackYeah, it's impossible to talk about Dragon Ball without making comparisons to Superman. In fact, have you seen the You Tube clip "DEATH BATTLE! : Goku VS Superman"? It's a long clip, but it sure explores a lot of fun little details.
I still think they should have tracked Gero down and destroyed his research before he could create the killer Androids that could kill millions.
He was part of the Red Ribbon Army, who likely killed a lot of people. Those are some crimes right there that need to be addressed.
So not hunting him down while he was vulnerable and at least turning him over to the Authorities was a big error on their parts.
One Strip! One Strip! It was, based on the information they knew, but based on what they did not know it wouldn't have saved them anything in the long run. (and it is perfectly possible to talk about Dragon Ball and superman (minus the parts that are directly taken from Superman, I'm not sure how that whole thing got started or why it won't die. You know what rips off Superman a whole lot more? Marvel Comics)
He got the argument about Vegito wrong too, the fanwank was that since he ended up in Buu's stomach there were some magical enzymes that broke apart the Kai magics. I'm not sure how credible that is but still.
I don't think so, though there is a video that pallete swaps a fifth form cooler to give it frieza colors.
Watch SymphogearAlthough, when you realize it's based on Akira Toriyamas own nightmares (Plus the Xenomorphs) it stops being funny, for the most part.

Watch SymphogearThey didn't
do it because they wanted to fight the Androids. I think the older dub's reason was that Gero didn't do anything bad yet so they really shouldn't just stroll in and kill him (which is pretty faulty reasoning since he worked for the Red Ribbon Army).
Well, That worked out pretty well didn't it?
Bulma should have found the Earth's Dragonballs and done it herself...
Then again, Bulma is pretty bad at Adventuring on her own.
Guess they were fucked.
One Strip! One Strip!
Whether it's Krillin never using his Kienzan properly, Goku throwing fights so that weaker protagonists can have a shot at fighting them, both Goku and Vegeta allowing enemies to reach their full strength so they can beat them at their best, villains with the explicit intent of blowing up the planet never really trying to blow up the planet, etc. etc., a general recurring element of Dragon Ball Z is that the characters make poor choices, but reality warps around them to ensure that it all works out in the end.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's true. Cell also does the, "I want to beat you at your FULL POWER!" thing. I chalk that up to Goku and Vegeta's cells.

Goku's voice in the Japanese version is...odd to me. It sounds fine for a child character, but making a teenaged boy or adult man sound like a little kid or a woman is just weird. Maybe they were trying to play up the Adult Child (Manchild?) aspect of the character. I know some people boo at the English version of Goku sounding like Superman, but I would happily point out that he is the Japanese equivalent of Superman, and so I see no harm in making him sound like the Man of Steel.
I came across this one You Tube clip of a guy pointing out problems with Dragon Ball Z. Brace yourself, because this guy really doesn't hold back on how he feels:
The guy really has a laundry list there. He does have some points. The franchise has never pretended to obey the laws of physics - you don't see any consequences with the moon being blown up multiple times, do you?
I like villains that actually have a backstory myself. The fact that almost none of the villains in "Z" had any backstory to speak of is interesting.
Winning a fight just because you have a higher power level is pretty simplistic. Then again, how do you demonstrate technique when fighting a lizard man, a bug monster, and a bubblegum demon?
I admit it is odd that Freezer with cybernetics got killed off by Super Saiyan Trunks so easily, whereas Eighteen with cybernetics knocks Super Saiyan Trunks around like a hackeysack. <Raises eyebrow>
Boy, there sure are a lot of blue-eyed blonds dominating the scene by the Buu saga. Still, I liked how just about every character lampshaded the fact that Goten and Trunks were going Super Saiyan as kids for no real reason.
I think Vegeta is simply a selfish hypocrite. Really, he talks about his honour constantly, when what he really means is his godlike ego.
I like how the guy points out how Goku qualifies as a Designated Hero. Then again, Goku more or less shows why a Blood Knight is terrible at being a hero. At least the other characters constantly point out that Goku has Skewed Priorities.
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!
