From Horrible/Tabletop Games:
I'd honestly like to see how a good one would work out.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerThe third eye is a metaphysical concept found in many forms of spirituality, including Hinduism, Taoism, and Chinese sects religious sects such as Chan. It bestows many abilities of clairvoyance and allows one to transcend to a higher consciousness.
Tien and Chiaotzu have a clear Chinese influence in their character designs and Tien's third eye is a part of that. They don't have to be aliens to justify Tien's third eye. Of note: Tien demonstrated his higher level of awareness by outright defeating the Zanzoken in one of his first matches ever. Jackie Chun created multiple afterimages to confuse Tien and he deftly struck the real Chun, conquering the technique.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.To be honest, Super's treatment of its female characters are lackluster. Bulma's only purpose in the story was to get slapped and make Vegeta pissed, Chi-Chi's as naggingly stupid as ever, 18's suffering the worf effect and being shafted, and Videl just being a Housewife with no plans to resume being the Great Saiyawoman.
I love you, Krillin!! -struggling to breathe- I love you as well, honey..- still having fingers crossed for Vados*
I guess...it could be worse. There could be fanservice.
At least Vados isn't wearing a bikini.
...I can't believe I have to say this stuff.
Stupid anime.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I'm going to be honest, Super in general is just starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I got excited when Battle of Gods was announced. I couldn't believe there was new DB stuff. But I slowly began to realize...
"...they're going to shove this down our collective throats, aren't they."

Luckily, we have a trope for that.
At least GT had good ideas. It just couldn't execute them.
Super doesn't even have them to try to execute so far.

And you missed the entire point of the post.
I'm defending GT instead of Super.

You edited the post at the same moment I'd posted. And yes, I agree, it had good ideas, and the execution was terrible. I especially liked the idea of Omega Shenron and the Dragon Balls striking back at their misuse.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? The only book (Daizenshuu 7) that hints at Ten's alien ancestry also outright classifies him as human. Or a "human-type Earthling", as it may be. Same class as Yamcha, Krillin, Chi Chi, Ox-King, etc.
I would dispute the idea that DB (the manga; the anime Flanderized everyone, but on the other hand there were was GT...) has always been sexist, besides the way it handled sexual assault maybe. The female characters were few and far between, due to the series being targeted at little boys. But those that did show up had 3-dimensional personalities, weren't treated like objects, were shown to be intelligent and/or capable in various ways, and weren't shown as any more flawed than the male characters. Bulma and Videl are good examples. Even the minor characters were pretty good, like Pan and Uranai Baba. Future 18 was also a good female villain, as the hero didn't go into Would Not Hurt A Girl mode or treat her as less of a threat than she was because of her gender.
The recent material is extremely questionable though. Not just this 18 moment, but a lot of other stuff too.
- Goku's mom is revealed to be a useless weakling who literally had to Stay in the Kitchen because she sucked so much.
- None of the women in BOG or FNF do anything except cook, cry, and get injured to motivate male characters.
- 18 is literally told to Stay in the Kitchen when she volunteers to fight, despite her actually being much stronger than all but two (Piccolo and Gohan) of the people who are going.
- None of the characters make that big a deal of Gohan getting drunk and nearly accidentally killing Videl; Videl herself just smiles and accepts it after she's healed, even though realistically that's probably a good time to high tail it.
- Videl has abandoned her crime-fighting career and apparently didn't even go to college.
- Super, FNF, and BOG all mysteriously take place right before the "And the Adventure Continues" ending for no real reason. It conveniently gets them out of having to include two more female characters, including one who was set up as Goku's successor.
I guess I have a problem with how Beerus is portrayed as "not a villain", for one thing.
I mean, come on. He's worse than Frieza ever was. I don't care about the whole "balance of the universe" bullshit. That's about as plausible a trope as The Chosen One nowadays.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerMy opinion on Super right now is just me desperately going "please get good, please get good, please get good!"
I don't want to cross the line and just flat-out say "Super sucks, and GT is probably better". Because once I go there, I can never go back. And I'll become angry and bitter and probably leave the franchise.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Does Beerus actually care about his job? I've never been under the impression that he does.
But either way calling it bullshit is just ignoring how their universe functions to suit your own morals. Which is kind of a big no no in fiction, I found. Apparently what he does is actually necessary so...

According to the Daizenshuu, he's part of the Three-Eyed Clan of humans.
