Again, the "evidence" that Buu doesn't train comes from the post manga material. In the "epilogue" of the manga its shown Goten and Trunks have been training, the former thinking he'll be able to beat Goku soon, and he's still afraid to fight Buu.
I'll admit, it's personal preference, but only partially. Super Saiyan 3 was specifically said to be unlocked by pulling deep within yourself. Not only is it something Vegeta can't do, he's not even as strong as Goku not taking the extra transformation into account. He needed Babadi's magic just to make them equal as Super Saiyan 2.
That's why Vegeta, no Babadi magic, not able to tap into super saiyan 3, surpassing Buu, Goku, Gotenks and Gohan bothers me.
Not only that, but as tense as Goku and Vegeta's rematch was, Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs Majin Buu just blew it away...this is the bit where my personal preference comes in but they were doing all kinds of weird stuff that felt comparatively fresh. The way Buu beat Dabura, and Kaishin, and Gohan, demolished cities, leading up to his and Goku's match, it was awesome and unlike Vegeta's match, which ended with him admitting Goku was right after being knocked on his face only to attack him from behind out of spite, this one ended with Goku and Buu eye to eye, smiling at one another and lamenting they had to cut it short. The moment Satan convinced the Dijin(which apparently the wrong translation now) that killing was wrong and he accepted, that's when I knew(or thought I did) that Buu was going to be a great character to follow around and watch develop. And how did that go? Two Buus! Transformation, absorption, regression, Goku's equally crazy "rematch" and the fat one's return! What a ride. I was ready to see where this new rivalry went.
Moreover the Fat Majin Buu is far more sympathetic than Vegeta. He may have been killing the population and all but when told to stop he did. He fought himself to keep his promise after having made it less than a day ago, as opposed to Vegeta, who after years on Earth still sold his soul for petty reasons and murdered hundreds of people, proving he was still worse than most of the 'villains'. Even after his 'redemption', for real this time, he was still condemned cursed death on the masses when he didn't get his way.
Vegeta took the worse beating from Kid Buu but you know, I wasn't moved by it. I haven't been moved by anyone kicking Vegeta's ass except Freeza. The tub of lard getting stomped was far more victimized by the circumstances of the Buu saga after all. Even if Buu's place was to get the worf effect before Goku I could see drama out of that. And it's already established Buu can go through weird transformations, so he could bring more variety to that place.
Buldogue's lawyerI would probably not even like Gohan if his potential actually meant something. It would be so repetitive! And lazy. And it'd undermine any sort of hard work done, when the day is always saved by some kid getting angry.
It only works well against Cell because his potential DIDN'T really help before then.
And in terms of a 3-way-battle...I'll add that to my list, next to 'battles that take place at night/have unique scenery', and 'battles with strategy', and 'battles that are won by the character who isn't as powerful'.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Piccolo & Goku vs. Radish is more like it, that's just a 2 vs. 1
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's the last big hurrah of strategy in battles...and it takes place at the start of the series.
I think I get why people prefer Dragon Ball.
I honestly wish I could enjoy it more. I know, objectively speaking, it's the better part of the series. So why do I still gravitate towards the Z portion? It's not like I have nostalgia towards this!
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!A lot of people say Dragon Ball is the better portion of the story. Probably because they use a lot more martial arts, battles can be won with strategy and clever thinking, Power Levels don't exist, and fights aren't won by getting a new transformation.
Also, characters like Oolong and Roshi actually had a purpose. Somewhat.
I can see these arguments, but...I still don't find myself liking Dragon Ball more as a series. I almost feel like I have to. A lot of people that I respect say so.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Power Levels did too exist in Dragon Ball and the only thing about them that changed going into the Z is that characters got to bigger numbers insanely quickly. Goku would always outclass everyone except one person in the arc who he'd be on par with during tournaments. Outside of them, he'd be much stronger than everyone except for the villain (who he'd match or outclass eventually) and whoever teaches him new stuff. When it came to fights, Goku was the only one that mattered. Outside of them, Goku probably mattered the least. This did not change come Z.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

He once beat a Wolf man with his Wolf Fang Fist in the prelims in I recall.
Still, Krillin stomps completely. Even Werewolf Yamcha is weaker.
