Maybe we're just the best at contributing to old topics, but not creating new ones.

I dunno.

Interesting Note:

As a writer, generally you don't choose how the characters behave.

If you're doing that, you're writing wrong.

The writer creates characters with set personalities and traits, and those characters behave appropriately to said traits and personalities. Yes, the writer can affect their development and the circumstances around them to force them to act in certain manners, yes, but if you're actively dictating their actions, then they're no longer characters, they're plot devices.

Actually yeah, that does surprise me. I'm usually never on when this thread is active, I would have thought I'd be the only Australian with that happening.

But I guess it's also because with work I now have a very narrow window I can actively post.

[up][up]You said it better than I did. We have plenty of tropes for whenever a character stops being themselves due to the writer's interference depending on the situation.

[up][up][up] For once, I think I actually completely agree with you.

@Saiga I can't believe I'm saying this but you're completely wrong. In Resurrection "F", they only get two wishes and neither of them was a mass revival.

I'm well aware of that.

I was speaking about the manga, where this is clearly explained. RF is the plothole. No, I'm not wrong.

[up][up][up][up] That's just a shitty writer who can't find a way to keep their characters in-character while doing what they want. It's not hard at all.

Someone who says they can't make a character do something just haven't put enough thought into it.

I'm looking at the manga right now.

Krillin: "Can you make them so that we can get three wishes like the ones on Namek?"

Piccolo: "If you do that, will we be able to resurrect a lot of people with one wish?[...]"

Dende: "Huh? I could make them like that but, if I did, we'd only get two wishes at a time."

[up]I think you're misunderstanding the mechanics of things. Dende has to restrict Shenron to two wishes to make mass revivals possible. They don't get a third wish if one of their first two isn't a mass revival.

Huh. that's interesting. I never noticed that. I guess because all their wishes after the Dragon was modified were Mass Revivals.

...Come to think of it, by the Buu Saga Porunga can grant more and more powerful wishes than Shenron in a shorter amount of time between summonings too.

...Weird thing is near as I can tell Moori was in charge of Namek's Dragon Balls while they were living at Capsule Corp. but Porunga still had the same limitations he did on old Namek.

...Did Moori start some sort of new diet and exercise program between Frieza and Buu or something?

Well Porunga did. They straight-up say that they upgraded him in response to sensing Cell, just in case.

More to the point, why didn't Dende upgrade Shenron that much?
