SSJ 2 Gohan being the best? This is truth. Nadolny Gohan doing it better than Clinkenbeard? Also truth. Spirit vs. Spirit being a great song? Once again, yes.
Combine all this and you get
A guy on Kanzenshuu made this and I love it to death.
As for Z vs. Kai, it's no surprise all the superior Kai moments are from the Freeza Saga. Goku's I Am Speech, as already noted, is way better than Z's.
On the other hand, Z Final Flash > Kai. Z SSJ 2 Gohan > Kai. Z Future Trunks killing Future 17 and 18 > Kai. And it goes on and on.
The original Japanese music is good, though! In Dragon Ball! Not Z but it was great in DB.
I've said this before, but in the latin version, due to a mixing mistake, IIRC, Gohan's first SSJ 2 transformation originally came out with no music.
And I still think that it works much, much better without music. It takes the scene from "serious" to "deadly f*cking serious".
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariIt dawns on me.
Vegeta creates some of the largest attacks in this series. Galick Gun was the first attack "confirmed" to be capable of destroying a planet. Visually, the Kamehemeha had only destroyed the moon up until that point.
Then in the Namek saga, Vegeta took out most of the antagonists, and used a massive Dakka attack on Frieza, the likes of which Goku IIRC has never actually done.
In the Cell saga, the Final Flash, Vegeta effectively baited Cell into tanking.
Then in the Buu Saga, his suicide move against Buu. He was the first person to nearly, completely obliterate Buu.
And most of this still blows up in his face. Bah-dum-tish.
In each of these, Vegeta is the first person to actually terrify the villain - Frieza, with his Super Saiyan swagger, Cell, with the Final Flash, and Buu, for taking a ki blast to the face and getting back up.
In Battle of Gods, he's the first to legitmately surprise Beerus, and in RF, he caught Frieza hilariously off-guard.
If this tradition holds true, what's he going to do in Super, I wonder. Goku pretty much upped the scale when he went SSG, if all of this "punching that nearly destroyed the universe" talk is true.
Since Vegeta is determined to one-up Goku, he's not going to stop until he can throw planets like shuriken.
You'd think Vegeta shacking up with a rich Earth woman and having a son destined for corporate greatness, compared to Goku's average, farmer life would be enough for him.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Out of curiosity, how did you guys get into the series?
I was a late bloomer. I didn't start getting curious until Goku proved to be really fun to play as in Super Smash Flash 2. I was "eh" on it before that.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerToonami. Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, and Gundum Wing were my Gateway Series into anime.
Yea, damn near almost everyone here had DBZ, along with Sailor Moon, and Gundam Wing as their Gateway Series to Anime through Toonami. If you know DBZ, you more than likely caught it on Toonami.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I guess I was the only one here who came into the fandom late then. Huh.
An aside: whenever I try to headcanon afterlives in other media, I tend to default to the Other World model. I like how events there can impact the world of the living and vice versa, assuming the right circumstances are met.
And the halo gives a very convenient marker for when I'm writing as a dead character.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI had neighbor from Puerto Rico and a classmate from Mexico who had the manga as well as Dragon Ball GT The Final Bout on Playstation. The former is also the one who got me into the Pokémon and Monster Rancher games. Till then, the word anime was something from French class, or maybe Speed Racer or Robotech or Princess Mononoke.
Dragon Ball was really unlike anything I had ever seen before. Yeah, Goku's origins turned out to be like Superman, a few years later I learned about Journey to the West, the Terminator Twosome trope had been done before, I learned all of that and more yet Dragon Ball still appeals to me in a way no other series has exactly, like my first Spider-man comic somehow connected in a way no other had.

Buldogue's lawyerI got into the series when I watched it obsessively on Toonami.
Ironically, given the dub and music change, I don't consider it my gateway series, any more than I do Pokemon. My gateway anime was Inuyasha which was pretty much unaltered.
Also I'll never forgive Toonami for restarting the series after Vegeta blows himself up against Buu. I legit thought that was the end of the series until a couple years later.

Came across the dub of the series in it's first run. Woke up early on Saturdays to watch the first season on CBS. Then caught it again when it started airing on YTV. It all snowballed from there. Of course I knew about it from watching a raw version of the 6th movie and the first ep of Z from years ago. My brother borrowed it from a friend, and that was my first exposure to Z.
Also:
Heh. Vegeta may not give the victory, but he does kinda set the bar for what's needed to be done. He's kinda the measuring stick for how far the heroes need to go to win, so he's actually a pretty good Worf in that sense.
Goku might not have tried the Instant Kamehameha if he'd not been aware of Vegeta's Final Flash (is he aware of that? I don't actually know now that I think of it), and Piccolo wouldn't have told Gotenks to burn the remains of Super Buu if he'd not witnessed Buu reforming after Vegeta blew himself up to stop him.
Sure, both of these things failed anyway, but they were still smart moves based on what they learned from Vegeta's failures.

One Strip! One Strip! When I returned the next year I was happily looking forward to watching more of Dragonball. But I got something different though I mean there was still a tournament going on but there was this green guy, and there was an older Son Goku (huh without his tail) but with a halo on his head, a mini Goku, and this grumpy guy in blue, wait Kururin is no longer bald what the hell and why isn't Yamucha fighting any more. Seriously what did I miss here? It was still cool though.
I barely remembered when it came on Toonami, but I remembered it somewhat well. I think I may have caught glimpses of the Cell and Buu sagas (I remember Goku fighting Fat Buu somewhat, and the scenes of Android 20 fleeing through the wastelands). When I'd moved to Mexico with my family for about 6 months, the entire frickin' time had Goku's battle with Freeza airing on TV. I didn't know what the hell they were saying, all I knew was that it was that one battle, before Goku went Super Saiyan, for weeks. Every goddamn week it was that fight. EVERY GODDAMN WEEK.
So yeah, that's kind of why I ended up preferring Kai.
But anyways, I ended up actually becoming a fan after watching Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I saw some of the Cell saga when my Mom was watching it and found it boring.
Then I decided to watch the series from beginning to end when she bought all of the series on DVD.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm in pretty much the same boat as Arha. One day it was just on TV.
By the way, this is what that scene looks like without music, it really is one of my favorite scenes in the entire anime.
Translations:
16: "Gohan... protect the living beings... and the plants of this world that I loved so much. I leave it to you."
Cell: "You didn't have to butt into this. You were always useless."
Narrator: "Finally... Gohan's wrath has overcome the limit."

I wouldn't say the original music sucks, but its placement in Kai leaves something to be desired. Despite them having the entire score available, they used some of the same tracks over and over again.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!
