He's a cat, not a dog.
Maybe it's the oracle fish or something?
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!@Lolypop
This is why I'd prefer to slowly transition to the next generation instead of suddenly moving to an "all new" cast. Phase them in bit by bit, until you've got a new cast. It's something that can be continued basically indefinitely without drastically changing the premise.
How would y'all feel if Saiyan transformations were done like this:
- Super Saiyan
- Super Saiyan 2 (Ascended SSJ)
- Super Saiyan 3 (Ultra SSJ)
- Super Saiyan 4 (Full-Powered SSJ)
- Super Saiyan 5 (Super Saiyan 2)
- Super Saiyan 6 (Super Saiyan 3)
- Super Saiyan 7 (Super Saiyan God)
- Super Saiyan 8 (Super Saiyan Blue)
- Super Saiyan α (False Super Saiyan)
- Super Saiyan β (Saiyan Beyond God)
- Super Saiyan X (Legendary Super Saiyan)
- Super Saiyan X6 (Legendary SSJ3)
- Oozaru
- Oozaru 2 (Golden Oozaru)
- Oozaru 3 (Super Saiyan 4)
- Oozaru X2 (Legendary Oozaru)
- Oozaru X3 (Legendary SSJ4)
Fun fact: before SSJ2 had an official name, guide books called it Super Saiyan Stage 5.

I honestly don't mind how the forms operate normally. I mean, not considering Grade 2 or 3 as 'real' Super Saiyan forms makes Super Saiyan 2 a lot cooler. And it makes sense.
Whereas Super Saiyan God is called that because it's essentially rebooting the forms.
And
that's true.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I just realized exactly how many unpopular opinions I have when it comes to this series.
I like to think of Goku's infamous "giving Cell a Senzu Bean" scene and think about what it means for the rest of the Saiyans. Because after thinking about it, it seems to me that it would make sense for Saiyans to consider belittling another's power to be a grave insult worse than killing them. With that in mind, Goku probably didn't want to insult his own son like that.
The worst possible move in context? Yes. But I like anything that makes it clear that Saiyans aren't "like humans but better".

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerYup. Which means that Goku is the only one who doesn't immediately realize that maybe he's the only one who's thinking about his manners there.
He was probably thinking something along the lines of, "I did a good thing today- why is everyone looking at me like that?"
is honestly one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. Characters need flaws in order to be believable, and Piccolo's "The Reason You Suck" Speech there perfectly lays out on the table that Goku's not just some paragon of Incorruptible Pure Pureness.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerHe kind of is though. That Pure Is Not Good has been firmly established st this point.
And that wasn't a "Reason You Suck" Speech. People apply that any time any character has hadsh words commenting on anything another character does, and that's not really what the trope is about.
No, Piccolo was right. Gohan was not prepared for this on an emotional level. Goku hadn't even told him he was going to do it, he just sent him out there and expected him to kick ass and take names like Goku would when he was young.
If it wasn't for Android 16's sacrificial plea or the sheer volume of work Cell himself put into making Goku's terrible plan succeed, Gohan would have died screaming, his final thoughts questioning why his father sent him out there to die.
It was not wrong to pin everyone's hopes on Gohan, but it was wrong to spring it on him like this, top Cell off with a Senzu, and just expect Gohan to be the ultimate badass Saiyan warrior of destruction at the drop of a hat. Any other villain but Cell and Gohan would have been a bloody smear on the rocks.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Dragon Ball Heroes God Mission 5 Trailer:
The trailer officially reveals SSJ4 GT Gohan, Super 17 (18 Absorbed), Darkness Towa, Giant Janemba, Mini Janemba, a buffer SSJ4 Broly (I'm still guessing he's Baby Infected), a Frieza-themed tournament mode, gold-foil Goku and Frieza cards, golden arcade machines, a special DBH binder set and a gold-box super deck.
Lots of Gold!
So here's an interesting thought:
What characters do you think have had the most Character Development in the series?
I'd arguably have to say Piccolo and Vegeta, as unlike many characters in the series, their development was across multiple arcs, as opposed to a lot of characters who's arcs ended in their introductory arcs (Yamcha and Tien are examples of this).
Krillin might be another example due to the whole finally gets a girlfriend thing.
And now I'm wondering what the opinion is on Toriyama's ability to develop his characters?
One Strip! One Strip!Ya know, I kinda hate that because the whole "Gohan doesn't want to fight" bit came right the fuck out of nowhere. He was disappointed when he was told to take Bulma, Trunks, and Yajirobe home since wanted to fight the Androids. He didn't have a single problem with running off to Namek and doing all of the fighting required there. He wanted to go fight Cell when it seemed like he was killing Piccolo and Tenshinhan. He never once showed that he didn't want to fight until that scene.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!![]()

Piccolo, Krillin, Gohan, Vegeta. Arguably the real protagonists of the Z portion, with Goku as more of a paragon figure/living Deus ex Machina.

Vegeta's a good husband and Bra is strong.
That "Dragon Ball Forever" thingy sounds like it's full of shit.
Hail Satan.
Bulma's shrink-watch.
I also want to know!
Does Beerus just poop in the grass sometimes?
Did Whis literally step in holy shit?
