I will take back on the Nappa thing (was thinking about the fight before the Spirit Bomb). After the Spirit Bomb hit Vegeta slowly got up and he used his explosion which took out everyone sans Yajirobe. Vegeta even announce afterword while he surprise that they survive that he still had more than enough power to kill everyone that was there. True the explosion happen immediately after the Spirit Bomb hit. The point is I consider the Spirit Bomb a failure because noting change. Vegeta was still strong enough to kill them. He never hit their level and the only time he hit below was after he was crush.

Agreed. He was running on adrenaline without a doubt, but I think that he was just pissed off enough that he would have finished them.

Yes, he was a mess, but he was the only one still capable of moving.

That being said, if Gohan had not transformed, I'll acknowledge that he might have burned himself out before he could finish.

Also, beating Yajirobe with his fists might have been less not have the power, and more not thinking straight after the numerous beatings he'd taken(busting out a Kienzan to cut gohan's tail implies he still had some power left).

Vegeta outright says he could kill Oozaru Gohan if not for the Spirit Bomb, so it's not like nothing changed. And at the 23rd Budolai Goku uses a Super Kamehameha without his stamina dropping in any noticeable way, showing that ki attacks don't really mean shit.

I guess with Gohan's transformation, the Spirit Bomb was less of a failure, but don't change after it hit they were still going to die.

We don't know that, though. You're really underestimating how fucked up Vegeta was.

Even if he could kill him I still don't see how it is a failure. Without the Spirit Bpmb, they'd be dead, with it they survived.

More likely I'm overestimating everyone else's injuries.tongue

This is going into too much what if territory for me. I still count it as a failure because it didn't change Vegeta was going to kill them or weaken enough that they could fight him out right (it was their last hope and it didn't do what they expected). Saiga, you can still count as a sucess...I just won't. So I'm going to stop.

Lets just agree to disagree.

The spirit bomb didn't flat out stop him, but it is a big part of the reason they are alive.

Could Farmer With Shotgun have killed post-Spirit Bomb Vegeta?

Goku, with a power level of ten, survived a bullet to the skull at point blank range in the very first chapter of the series. I doubt Vegeta would be harmed in the slightest since his power level must be at least one hundred even after being severely weakened.

So I just realized...

For all our criticisms of Dragon Ball Z for it's Filler, does anyone point out that, in this day and age of Anime that end up ending before the Manga and going Off the Rails and all, or being very loose adaptations, or being completely different from the source material, that Dragon Ball is one of the few series that finished its run without having to change the ending, or overtaking it's manga counterpart.

Sure, there have been others, but that filler did serve a purpose. To avoid them needing to create a new series, or any other shit that happens with an anime based off Manga.

Maybe they should just not make animes until the manga is given an appreciable head start?

I don't really mind the Dragon Ball filler existing so long as later releases of the series exclude the filler or otherwise separate it out (Why does Kai still contain some of the filler like the Captain Ginyu - Bulma thing?).

[up]Kai probably has that stuff because they were too lazy to animate it fresh and some sequences wouldn't make sense if they didn't include the filler portions.

Frieza using a death ball on Trunks is another one. Originally Trunks vanished after he fired his initial burst of energy but if they just showed that you'd have a giant crater appearing out of nowhere.

They should of just animated it like they animated the opening, it killed my enthusiasm for Kai because of that.

Please forgive me for this, but which characters do you think had the best development and the worst derailment in the series?

Derailment: Son "Whoops missed the earring and got p'zoned by Buu" Gohan.
