In this week's Dragonball Super... Some reminiscing between Goku and Krillin, which sort of leads to some more scenes with Krillin and his family, the latter is always a plus in my book. Man how did 18 turn into such an understanding wife?
Also it seems that in Super it's Vegeta who gets the jump over Goku, and manages to convince Whis to train him personally. We also see the body armor he starts using in the Resurrection F movie.
So yeah, here we have it, Vegeta is definitely looking for an alternative to the Super Saiyan God ritual after all.

If Vegeta really does end up getting God without the ritual...I don't know what I'm going to think. It just sounds so stupid. And it makes Vegeta seem more gifted than Goku, something which never happens in the series ever.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!Vegeta is more gifted than Goku. Socially and genetically anyway. One's a low class warrior, the other is an elite. Goku's had training from two great martial artists, the caretaker of every Earth god and a literal god, so he eventually surpassed Vegeta, which made Vegeta attribute Goku's supremacy to a natural gift but after watching 'kararot' fight while frustrated for a prolonged period realized nope, he's just better than I am.
Technically he realized Goku was better than him in Cell Saga too, but again, that lead to the "natural gift" line of thinking, and to be fair, Gohan, who surpassed them all, really does have that gift, for some reason(how does the offspring of low class trash and a puny Earthling have so much potential?). So it's easy to see why he made that mistake.
The point being Vegeta seeking out training from a martial arts master after coming to the realization Goku is just better and proved "training can surpass birthright" makes sense if they're insistent on keeping Vegeta at the top for however many sagas, more sense than Vegeta stealing Gohan's gimmick of random power ups when friends/family get hurt. Achieving Super Saiyan God without the ritual? I still don't like that idea but am willing to see how he does it before offering any criticism beyond that.
Two of my biggest issues are Piccolo going to the background after his efforts to catch up ultimately fail in the android saga but Vegeta getting to stay in the limelight after his even more extreme actions to catch up fail in the Buu saga, and the serious lack of new forefront fighters following the saiyan saga after getting a steady supply of them previously.
My second gripe might actually be addressed if Beerus and Whis fight on the same team as Goku, Vegeta and filler(Gotenks/Gohan/Buu) for the Earth. That alone would justify Vegeta getting god from Whis, so long as it is portrayed in too stupid a manner.
Buldogue's lawyerI think the reason that Gohan is so strong is the fact that he's the son of the strongest woman on the planet who isn't part apocalypse machine and the fact that being part human apparently doesn't dilute your power or ability to get stronger.
People may forget, but Chi Chi and the Ox King are among the top .01% of the humans on earth.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else...so, I've just been going through the backlog and I might be archiving some of the best quotes in this thread. And I found this gem from Unnoun about Battle of Gods:
Hilarious in Hindsight, indeed.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby! Why Goku doesn't make his money prize fighting
Beyond that, it'd be no fun to watch. Prize fighting is entertainment first and foremost. A fighter who walks in and floors everyone by flexing really hard is not entertainment, it's boring.
What made Goku's fights so thrilling in the Tenkaichi Budokai was that he had other opponents around his level of skill to match him blow for blow. A tournament that's just "Goku walks in and drops everybody with one punch" year after year would get boring fast, and a boring tournament means people stop attending. Goku is too powerful to make a career out of fighting.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.But he loves going all out.
And even holding back, he likely stomps everyone who's not Vegeta (or now, Beerus and Whis) with practiced ease.
One Strip! One Strip! The scenes with Krilin and Goku were hilarious. Especially when Goku punched him. How far did he fly?
And it seems Goku stopped training for all of one day before going back to it.
Wait... did Vegeta stand there since the day before thinking about how much he wants to surpass Goku? That's such a Vegeta thing to do.
Food jokes, so many food jokes.
Vegeta goes for a training, and it seems next episode so is Goku. Finally they'll be free from all the hustle and bustle of Earth and be able to concentrate on what's important.

You forgot the last item on that list: Train.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! And Bingo.
And on occasion, let his ego run out of control and get rofl-stomped.
That's an optional part of the training though.
One Strip! One Strip!

I do recall him saying he thought he might have to use it if the battle went on too long.
So I guess he would have eventually won, but he wondered if he needed to pick up the pace by just Kaioukening Nappa's ass right then and there.
