It was pretty much the only times Yamcha and Krillin fought out of a tournament scenario, and their record here...wasn't very good.
Also, now that I'm thinking about this...geez, it was weird that Upa was with them that whole time. It's like he was going to be a new regular member of the supporting cast.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby! They cheated a cheater, so it's fair.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm currently watching my way through Dragon Ball (pre-Z), and based on what I keep hearing, I must ask... is it just me or are more than a few aspects of the story a little sloppy? I just checked the character page so I could read up on Launch (one of my personal favorites) and found that she has almost no role in the Z saga because Toriyama apparently forgot she even existed. Also, Puar stops transforming because... she just does, I guess? I can't recall any other examples off the top of my head (once I get farther into the series and start seeing these things first-hand instead of hearing them I might have some more) but if stuff like that is common, well... forgetting characters and plot points is a pretty huge problem that can be traced back directly to incompetence from the writer. Is that perhaps me being too cynical or extrapolating one or two minor examples onto the series as a whole, or are there some legitimate major issues with this further down the line?
When I'm not busy, I read fantasy, listen to power metal, play video games, write stories, & explore TV Tropes. A productive use of my time.Toriyama didn't forget about Launch, he thought that everyone else forgot about her.
As for Puar, there's never really a moment where he needs to transform after the Pilaf Saga.
I can't really recall any plot points that Toriyama just abandons. His problem is that he never foreshadows future sagas (Piccolo Daimaou comes out of absolutely nowhere).
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yeah. Even Mashima tries to foreshadow.
He does a shit job of it, and Toriyama is still better, but still.
One Strip! One Strip!Well, there is one thing he foreshadowed:
Gohan's hidden power. He spent years building that up......
.....yeah.
One Strip! One Strip!Well, I suppose some things can be forshadowed, and some things don't really need it.
I mean, even if we didn't know what his deal was, the fact that Goku was different from everyone else due to his Tail and his transformation was still Foreshadowing, even if I don't believe Toriyama planned for him to be an alien from the get go.
One Strip! One Strip! So, this episode of Dragon Ball Super:
Chi-Chi is a shrew.
Gohan cooks.
Vegeta stands on a hill in the middle of the deserts and thinks about how much he wants to be stronger than Goku.
Mr Satan takes credit for other people accomplishments and gets away with it. Becuase Is Dragon Ball has a moral it's that being a lair and a fraud pays off. Also, crowds chanting "Satan, Satan!" will never be not funny.
Circumstances stopped either of them from being fragile much earlier than normal. Something she'd you if she actually let him show her.
In another verse, with different rules, she would indeed be totally right, but she doesn't live in a world like that.
And in a lot of these circumstances Goku either wasn't around or Gohan or Goten(along with Trunks) could potentially be better than him.

Well, I do remember Goku being in crippling agony after a fight or something and Chichi ignoring him to focus on an uninjured Gohan, which someone called her out on. Oolong maybe? So yeah, her lack of concern for her husband might just be so great that she doesn't care if he dies too.

How are you supposed to comprehend that your 9 year old child is stronger and a better fighter than his grown-ass adult father who's saved the world countless times by punching the threat in the face? Actually, I'm pretty sure the only time she said that was when he wanted to go to Namek, which was when Gohan was 5 and REALLY didn't actually NEED to go.
I will actually be fair to Chichi and say that she probably doesn't find anything weird with Goku being beat to shit.
I mean, it is Goku, I imagine that to Chichi, the idea of him losing a fight is just a foreign concept that she doesn't quite understand.
I've always justified her wanting Gohan to study over training as less "I don't care what happens to the world" and more "I have absolute faith in my husband so I don't need to worry about the world".
himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari

Recoome. Granted, it was filler. He also knocked out random fighters in the Tournament Qualifying Rounds. One was a wolfman.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?
