Pan is a food pun, and also a pun on an inspiration for a popular image of Satan, The Great God Pan. A Multiple Reference Pun.
Buldogue's lawyerDon't forget Pan troglodyte aka chimpanzee.
Pan is basically Dragon Ball's ultimate pun.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyAnd the zenkai were only needed to step up from the Ginyu Force's level to Freeza's. If you cut them out the characters could have already been strong enough to fulfill their roles in the Freeza battle, leaving the only change that Freeza has no scouter to find Nail. So if Nail just went and specifically stalled Freeza so the Earthling's could make their wish, you'd have that filled as well.
You could even cut Nail v. Frieza. Nail only needed to stall Frieza because the humans and Vegeta were at his ship after Captain Ginyu took the Balls there. Cutting the Ginyu Force allows the story to cut straight to Vegeta taking a nap and Gohan and Krillin stealing the Balls and attempting to summon Porunga.
Not being a bloody stain in the grass would also allow Nail to seek out Piccolo for Fusion rather than Piccolo fortuitously stumbling upon Nail.
Several of the most powerful beings in the entire universe are there. Maybe they have, like, a collective ki-shield that protects the world from the splash effects.
I love the Hellzone Grenade for weaponizing failure. It's a ki-spam that turns into a deadly minefield ambush when the spam inevitably misses its mark.
It's just a shame we only got to see it once and against an enemy who can generate an infinite forcefield. Would have been nice to see whether it can do an impressive amount of damage or, like the Multiform technique, if it's necessarily Awesome, but Impractical too weak to have value as an attack.
That it premiered in Piccolo's last real fight also lends to its mystique. Usually, when an attack is never used again, it's because its points of failure were exposed and it was revealed to be impractical. With Hellzone Grenade, it's impossible to tell if its failure to make a subsequent appearance is because the move sucked or just because its only user dropped out of the game.
Replace "before" with "after" and I agree.
Before Vegeta came along, Tien's contributions outside of his personal character arc was to be a spectator to Goku and Piccolo Daimao's fight. He swooped in to rescue Goku one time and got used as a hostage against Goku one time, both fairly reasonable roles for a spectator incapable of directly influencing the fight's outcome.
And then fighting Nappa, being the third of Earth's defenders to fall. The Earth's champions died largely in order of importance, with Yamcha going first, Chiaotzu and subsequently Tien next, and Piccolo last. Gohan and Krillin surviving to see the battle's end and helping to defeat Vegeta.
Tien's best moment to shine outside his character arc is definitely his brief period holding the line against Cell. It's not much glory but it's as much as he's capable of at these high levels, and it's still more than a relative weakling like him should have been able to pull off. This is why that moment is under so much contention, because both of the following are true:
- Tien pulled far more than his power-weight in that moment.
- It still wasn't much weight.
Where you fall on the matter of Tien often depends on which bullet you consider more substantial.
EDIT: It also doesn't help that, as many Western fans came in at Raditz, a lot of people don't even know that Tien is an arc character and just assume he's one of the Z-Warrior superteam, heroic defenders of Earth who ride in on white horses whenever evil looms.
Going through early Dragon Ball after watching the Z anime can be genuinely surprising with how late Tien is introduced and how he never actually becomes part of the social group or one of the Kame students. Tien and Chiaotzu train with everyone at God's Lookout in preparation for the Saiyans and, because this is their first appearance to everyone who came in at "Z", it's easy to miss that this is abnormal for them.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Going by the Super manga,I don't think the situation will change much.Goku will run out of gas blocking Billy's ball, and Billy will do his speech about him bein the Go D of the
6th7th universe.
