Right before Vegeta goes Ascended Super Saiyan, right after Cell absorbs #18, and I could've sworn there was more moments...I just remember some weird subtext that wasn't there in the manga, I don't really watch much of the anime.

Yeah, I goofed on that, but there is some more, I know it! I remember Vegeta very clearly going on one of his rants about it!

And so we have in this week's Dragonball Super... Well, Goku going serious against Beerus I suppose. We also get this hilarious segment where Gohan and Piccolo comment with serious faces about it, which then cuts to Beerus and Goku fighting each other like children (pulling ears, noses, etc).
Then there's the deathball part. Unlike in the movie, where Beerus is puzzled by what Goku pulled, here we see Goku crush the deathball like a baloon, compressing the energy until it eventually pops.
And then it turns out (OF COURSE!) that Beerus was still messing around... and he's getting bored now. This leads to the part where see in last week's preview, with Beerus playing around with a ki ball as if its a football. And when Goku gets rid of that, well, what followed wouldn't look too out of place out of Touhou.
Kind of surprised that the Super Saiyan God transformation hasn't worn off at this point, but apparently it's going to continue into next week's episode too, where apparently all gloves are off, and Beerus get serious... Well, as serious as 70% of his power will be at any rate (we know this, Goku doesn't).
P.S. Goku gets punched through the gut (literally, there's a burning hole in him for a while), but he kind of unconsciously heals himself thanks to the god powers. Sooo... How does Zenkai figure in this case?

Zenkai is a... biological function, so if the godly ki is healing Goku, wouldn't the Zenkai be "overruled"? And it doesn't sound like that blow to the gut was a mortal one either.
Oh, never mind, it looked pretty deadly.
Heh. Goku punched something hard enough that it actually made his hand tremble afterward.
And now Beerus is headbutting Goku into orbit.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Oh yeah, thought you guys should know: Beerus saying that Angry SS 2 Vegeta pushed him to 10% of his power was actually a mistranslation; the actual line is 1%, which sounds much more accurate.

So I looked at chapter 4 of Super.
It's not even explained how they did it. Kibito and East Supreme Kai just split while searching for the Dragonballs. I mean, come on! At least give us an actual reason.
One Strip! One Strip! The fight animation is much, much better than in any previous fights in Super, but I still miss the sheer dynamism of the movie fight. That battle had flow, this is just them messing around, talking, one upping one another and rising their power even higher in turn. I liked few moments, like Goku surprising Beerus with gut punch, Beerus meteor smacking Goku into an island and the energy ball compression, but for the most part the battle feels a little stiff.
I do admit I liked how Goku got up from the ocean thanks to sheer excitement about Beerus strength. That's so like him.

and
You guys misread that I think. Supreme Kai says that since they already gathered the Namekian Dragon Balls (to hide them from Champa) they went and used them to revert to two people again.

Oh. That makes sense. So now, there are two ways for them to split Earring fusion. Come to think of it, we only see Kibito Kai in GT. He doesn't show up in the original Manga epilogue, so does this finally, definitively render GT non-canon, with no room for any debate, or is there still something I'm missing?
One Strip! One Strip! So the SUPER balls are planet sized?
Regular Kai's hairstyle is absolutely horrible,so they'll fuse again.

I watched more than half the fight. The only line he had even vaguely related to what you're talking about was "Are you ready to witness a power not seen for thousands of years?"
My various fanfics.
