I'm really, really sorry for bringing this up again, but now I'm curious. What did Videl getting beaten like that even accomplish? Gohan probably would have gone Super Saiyan 2 in front of Kibito if Piccolo had told him to. Right? He didn't need to be angry about Videl for it to happen.
I guess it was to show how evil Spopovich was, and then, by extent, how evil Babidi was, but we could have been told that by so many other ways.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!
I mean, there are plenty of other occasions where Babadi does evil things, so.
Kinda unnecessary?

Yeah, Vegeta's one of those characters that it's satisfying for something bad to happen to them.
That being said, he's actually (comparatively) a pretty decent person now, so I do feel bad for him more now than I did during, say, the Cell Saga.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone else![]()
Hell, he murdered the aforementioned Spopovitch and Yamu without hesitation.
Keep in mind that said pair accomplished their mission with flying colours (though Babidi had no idea how well they'd done).
Killing off goons who fail is one thing, but killing off goons who actually succeeded when you think they are no longer valuable is a the ultimate dick move.

One Strip! One Strip!I guess that's the real issue. When Vegeta gets beat up, he totally deserves it. The stuff with 18 happened just after he was being a massive dick to Future Trunks, so the audience had a reason to hate him.
What did Videl do to deserve getting beaten up? Not giving up? Honestly, I wouldn't have even said it was sexist if I hadn't seen some terrible comments on Youtube trying to say it was her fault for not surrendering. Dude, if you were under the impression that magic and aliens didn't exist, would you believe Spopovich was being enhanced by an alien wizard?
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby! The only things I question are:
1) Why she never tried to throw him out of the ring when it was clear she couldn't knock him out. But by the time she realized she couldn't knock him out, it was likely too late anyway (since he'd shown he could fly)
2) Why nobody tried to stop the match. It was clear it was no longer entertaining at this point. I can only assume they really didn't have any rules for when a fighter purposely dragged out the match the Spopovitch did (his actions, while abhorrent, were apparently not breaking any rules at all, so this really must have never happened before).
I won't fault Videl for not surrendering. She's the daughter of the (supposed) hero Mr. Satan. That kind of legacy must be lived up to. That and bloody minded stubbornness meant she'd never surrender. Not that it mattered after a while. It's clear that she no longer had the capacity to surrender even if she wanted to after the beating went on long.
One Strip! One Strip!I was asking that second question before. At that point, I think even Vegeta might have stepped in if just to get that match over with so he can fight Goku.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's something of a curse of anime that any and all hype a character has instantly transfers to the character that beat them should they happen to lose. I brought up the character Lucci from One Piece earlier as he's a pretty glaring example of this. In his own arc he was built up as one of the best in the world and gave the hero a grueling fight. Thing is, this was the hero before the Time Skip and a very significant powerup. As it stands now, the hero as he currently is could probably take out Lucci in one hit, and he's not nearly one of the best himself which makes it kind of silly Lucci was seen as so dangerous.
And it's a thing Dragon Ball has been doing since...the second Tournament Arc.
The Red Ribbon Army didn't actually do that well except for Tao Pai Pai. After that, things were relatively smooth sailing for Goku. Perhaps that's why the arc isn't as fondly remembered. The power levels went all over the place.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby! While I agree with the futility of sexism discussions, this is the part that bothers me.
How could you say that Legend of Korra is terrible? How!? How can you be showing some moderate interest in Dragon Ball as a series and think Korra is terrible? That's blatant contradiction and it disturbs me deeply.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I think that Korra is terrible because it can't hold a candle to the glory that was Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! But Book 3 had a depressing last scene! Everybody knows that everything is better with a depressing last scene!
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyThe original's Book 2 also had a depressing last scene. Freeza Aang did it.
Yeah, but Aang never did the Shinji face!
◊
@The Airman
Sharing anything with Shinji instantaneously makes Korra a shitty character.
Do you not read fanfiction?
Not even fans of Shinji actually keep Shinji being, well, Shinji.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimari

I love Vegeta. He is basically perfect for his role in the series. He is one of the most intensely flawed characters of the series, and the most consistently antagonist. But at times he's also often his own worst enemy, and it's so satisfying to see him get his well-deserved comeuppance.
