It completely is. If anything obsoleted the humans, I think it's exactly that. Their main combat role before Namek was to get the shit beat out of them until Goku could save the day. Raditz kicking Krillin through a house, the Saibamen and Nappa methodically slaughtering the humans, etc. Even on Namek, Krillin and Gohan's main contribution to combat was getting effortlessly stomped by enemies that far outclassed them.
But none of them get stomped as lovingly and methodically as Vegeta tends to get. Nobody gets broken like Vegeta frequently is. If you want to have Android 18 reduce someone to a shattered mess of pain and failure, why break Piccolo or Tien when it's much more fun to watch Vegeta cry, wail, and scream in impotent fury - while 17 is swiftly dropkicking the rest of the cast, who go down in half the time with twice the dignity.
In combat, the supporting cast's job is to fail, and nobody is as fun to see broken and sobbing as Vegeta, because we like the others, so Vegeta got to have the act of being ripped apart in brutal and humiliating ways become his full-time job.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Re: Vegeta quits when things get too hard.
No, not even close. With Frieza he didn't quit: he realized he can't win. And when it dawned on him it crushed him. Even while he's laying there, barely able to breathe, he's still defiant of Frieza and passing on killing the ladyman to Goku.
As for Final Explosion, that's not quitting. His goal was to kill Buu. He realized he couldn't do it and make it out alive, so he'd just blow himself up and do it.
Andoid 18: not only did she prove to be a stronger opponent (re: able to outlast him), but then she broke his arm and stomped on it until he passed out in pain. He was still trying to get up to fight.
I've had 19 years of Vegeta. I know his character. I got out of the "VEGETA IS SO BADASS AND PERFECT" phase when I was 14. I accept him for all his faults now, and being a quitter isn't one of them.

"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."I'm at work and don't have the manga with me at the moment; didn't he stop fighting after 18 broke his second arm?
Having both of your arms broken is a reasonable point to stop fighting, but I brought it up in comparison to Goku continuing to fight Piccolo with his limbs broken. If I'm misremembering and Vegeta actually kept right on going at 18 after his arms were broken, then never mind.

It was a last ditch effort, not a ragequit. A ragequit would've been him saying "Fuck This" and flying away.
Or claiming he has to use the restroom.

himitsu keisatsu seifu chokuzoku kokka hoanbu na no da himitsu keisatsu yami ni magireru supai katsudou torishimariNo, 17 and 18 were orders of magnitude stronger than Super Saiyan Vegeta who was at least a bit stronger than Super Saiyan Goku who was about as strong as Super Saiyan Future Trunks who could only hold off both Future Androids when they were going at about half.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!It only makes sense because that was the same problem he had back on Namek with his 100% Full Power form.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Noted by whom? I think you're confusing Vegeta vs 18 with Piccolo vs 17.

It's more fun to watch Vegeta get his teeth kicked in, though.
