Like most things about GT, it's a cool idea poorly executed.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I love the idea of the constant reliance on the Dragon Balls invoking some kind of Gaia's Vengeance adversary. The Dragon Balls themselves being the final villain feels appropriate.
I just didn't like the Shadow Dragons themselves, or their motivation; frankly, it would have been more personal if their goal had been to kill our protagonists as retribution for the constant abuse than omnicide. Or better yet, using the concept that each Dragon was created from a wish, each Dragon should be trying to unmake that wish, like a celestial repo agency. Or something like that, something that speaks to the mythology and history of the series.
The Shadow Dragons are a neat concept turned into an Excuse Plot to have a bunch of evil dudes doing evil stuff until they're beaten.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I mean, yea every wish on the Dragon Balls was a selfless one. But that still doesn't really change the fact the protagonists do kinda overuse them at their discretion.
Hell, it got to a point where the protagonists were(reluctantly) willing to let a mass murderer go on a spree because they knew they could just revive them later on.
I at least would have liked to see how it went. If the villain is portrayed completely wrong, then it kinda defeats the purpose of addressing the issue in the first place.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well, that's assuming that overuse of the Dragon Balls is an issue. Yes, they used them a lot, but besides early on at the beginning of the series with Bulma it's not like any wish made is frivolous.
I suppose you could try and argue they got over dependent on them but I wouldn't buy it, seeing that they usually tried to prevent situations that would require them to use the Dragon Balls to fix things from happening in the first place. It just so happens that they failed most of the time.

I was talking about use from our protagonist. Even then, I wouldn't call that wish "frivolous", terrible for the world yes, but his wish wasn't anywhere near as trivial as Bulma wanting to wish for a boyfriend or Oolong wishing for panties (albeit to save the world).

I kinda like the idea of the Shadow Dragons. The idea that even if done to help people, misusing the balls can have consequences is interesting to me.
Though I believe Saiga pointed out long ago that Old Supreme Kai knew about this drawback and never said a thing, which is a questionable move. I don't let that totally sink the idea for me, but I still see the problem with it.
Also, I find it personally funny that, the more selfless the wish, and the more it was meant to help people, the more evil and powerful the dragon was. Hence Nuova Shenron, the only dragon born of a completely selfish wish (restoring the youth of King Piccolo) is the least evil of the whole group.
As has already been said, GT had a good idea, but shit execution.
One Strip! One Strip! So I got the Whis outfits. They look good and I love Vegeta's, but I hate the stats. Luckily using Z-Souls and Super Vegeta 2 seem to offset the stat decrease. The wig is useless to me though. Maybe i'll give it to my Namekian, poor guy needs some hair.
Also, anyone else think Namekians and Asari would go good together? I dunno it just popped into my head while I was working.

What started out as a pleasant afternoon of drugs and surgery has not gone as planned.I tend to ignore stat changes but since I plan to play online soon I feel like it'd be a good idea to pay attention to those damned arrows. Show me some green arrows! That's a reference.

What started out as a pleasant afternoon of drugs and surgery has not gone as planned.Saiga's never even had anything to do with Dragon Ball. He's just so good at bullshitting that we believe everything he says.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I knew he was screwing with us!!!!
Get the Torches and Pitchforks!!! It's Saiga hunting season!!!!
I'll teach him to know more about my favourite show than me LIE TO US.

So, am I the only one who actually likes the concept of the Shadow Dragons? The idea of being over-reliant on Deus ex Machina coming back to bite you is interesting to me. There's even a bit of Foreshadowing in the manga that never pays off that being over-reliant on the Dragon Balls isn't a good thing, with how concerned Old Kai was about the issue.
